Denchys B&B, hotel in Matamata

A recently renovated bed and breakfast, Denchys B&B offers accommodations in Matamata. This bed and breakfast features a garden.

We were there to visit Hobbiton. This is a self-contained little house beside the owner's residence. It was very well equipped and cosy with all you could need available. Owners were communicative and helpful by text. You need a car to get around as it's further from town than we would walk

Hills Vista Lodge, hotel in Matamata

Hills Vista Lodge offers accommodations in Matamata, 27 miles from Waikato Stadium and 27 miles from Garden Place Hamilton.

This was the most wonderful accommodation! The location was perfect for Hobbiton and the countryside is idyllic. The space was perfect for our group of 6, lots of great books, maps, dvds and cozy seating and very clean. The breakfast of farm fresh eggs, butter, jams and coffee also unexpected and amazing. Also very friendly check in. Wish we had stayed longer.

We were in Matamata for a wedding at Hobbiton which was a great experience for us, even though we are not Lord of the Rings fans. Plenty of places to dine and from Maple Lodge was an easy walk into the main centre of town.

Centrally located town of the North Island worth an overnight stop for lots of sightseeing spots nearby and good eateries. We recommend Hobbiton to anyone, even if you are not a fan of the movie series. It is a very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. Also do not miss the unique Blue Spring in Putaruru. The township of Matamata has many drinking and eating options for all budgets and some really nice places are reasonably priced.

We visited specifically to visit Hobbiton, this was a perfect stay for this purpose. We had a great meal at The Redoubt, although if eating on a Wednesday evening it helps if you enjoy Country and Western music. Pretty much everything was in walking distance. The area is really well looked after

Great place to unwind and just chill. Handy to Rotorua and Tauranga too. If you want somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities but with all the essentials, Matamara is the place to be.

The standard of the accommodation is very very high, with a tremendous attention to detail. There is food for breakfast, luxury bath robes, brilliant shower and overall felt like the standard of a 5 star hotel. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and gave us tips on places to see. Also there are laundry facilities for guest use which is very handy.

We were absolutely blown away by Kylie's hospitality and loved every minute of our stay in Matamata. It truly is a 10/10 location. The house is very clean, decorated with great attention to detail. We even got a lovely surprise, given it was our honeymoon. This place was a highlight on our trip to New Zealand. Highly recommend!
