Liked the station as 6 of us were on a coach tour back in 2005 and visited the station then on the Taieri Gorge tourist train on an old branch line. good trip back then and enjoyable. This time was a pit stop and me videoing and pics of the updated train on the platform. The history of the place and preserved architecture is worth visiting: the foyer is unreal and as a retired freight drive from Central Q'ld (from the big West Island!) I still enjoy trains. After 50 years, so I should! Yours in driving, Graham

The railway station is magnificent.
The railway station is magnificent. We took a railway rip into the hills and it was spectacular too. For the drivers of vehicles when touring this is a great day to see scenery and mix with fellow travellers.

An amazing old building is an icon in Dunedin. Beautiful architecture inside and out. Well worth the visit. We also took the train trip up the coast to Palmerston and back (about 2 hours) and the scenery was wonderful.

A must do is go to the Farmers Market on Saturday which is held in the car park and on the platform at the north end of the station. As well as the awesome produce at the market you can have a look at the magnificent railway station as well. Truly beautiful. Such a pity that there are now no passenger trains running through here. Dont forget to visit the early settlers museum next door while you are in the area- well worth a visit also.
