Bryggen
These colourful wooden houses line the harbour and form one of the most iconic districts in Bergen. A physical reminder of the trade conducted here from the 14th to mid-16th century, the bright white, yellow, red and blue wooden buildings are a beautiful contrast to the icy North Sea. Take some photos and then explore the little alleyways, where you’ll find quirky galleries and cute cafés.

Loved walking through this old area of Bergen and seeing these historical buildings. Worth taking the time to do some homework, or a tour, on the history of these buildings. This way you'll appreciate what you're seeing more.

Classic area with fish market and the multi-colored buildings and old town. Very touristy. Would recommend going early in the morning or evening but not eating in this area as the prices are generally inflated.

Many nice shops to find some special items.
Many nice shops to find some special items. Make sure to go down the side streets and go in and out of the special shops hidden off the Main Street. Everyone was so helpful and kind to us. It was very rainy the day we were there but still nice.

3. Don’t bother with the Bergen Card. You will never see enough to return the card cost
4. Walk everywhere as there is no effective public transport.

This hotel is centrally located, just next to the harbor and tram and bus stops.
We had a room with the view of the Bryggen which was really the highlight of our stay.
The complimentary breakfast is really good and with lots of choices. The dining room gets pretty busy during the breakfast time, but we were always able to find a table. It gets quite noisy though with so many people.
Considering Norvegian prices, this was a really good value for a self-catering stay so close to the centre (train station, pier, Bryggen all within short walking distance). The beds were so-so, but for a hostel, it was clean, and had enough facilities (mind you, when I was there it wasn’t at full capacity).
The apartment is very well located with a view of one of the harbors. Easy access by bicycle to the city center, fish market, Bryggen historical area etc. Rental bike rack right outside the building. The apartment is well equipped. Kitchen counter space is tight. It was well equipped but a cutting board is needed.
The location could not be better. With Fløibanen funicular railway just a few step downstairs, we can monitor the queue and find the best timing going up to the hill. Walking to Bryggen from the apartment is also just a few minutes. The spacious apartment is fully equipped with everything we need.
We used the washer several times. And the drying rack was big enough to hang our clothes. The host was very responsive to any issues we had. The apartment was a good size. The neighborhood was quiet. And the location was close to parking garages, shopping, groceries, Port of Bergen, and the Bryggen area.
Location in Bryggen at the end of the Hanseatic houses on the old wharf made it convenient for access to all of Bergen and transportation, and harbor cruises. This location also gave it a boutique hotel feel.
Very quirky old building. Lots of character. We had a nice attic room with a good sized bathroom and an interesting layout. Hotel could not be better located for the harbor and bryggen area of Bergen. Close to the end of the light rail line from the airport. Two minutes walk from the funicular and the fish market.
Fantastic two nights stay at the Opus 16 hotel in Bergen. Stayed in a spacious deluxe room with comfortable beds.
Enjoyed the wonderful à la carte breakfast with some tasty salmon dishes.
All staff is very friendly and attentive.
The location is just perfect nearby Bryggen and the funicular.
Good location, particularly convenient if arriving by train (the hotel is on the street next to the station). In some cities, the areas near train stations are often places to avoid, but there are no such concerns in Bergen. Easy 0.5 km walk to the harbour and Bryggen. Comfortable room was very good value.
Extremely clean, cozy and welcoming apartment, located in the city centre and close to the main attractions such as bryggen, Bergen harbour, Floyen mountain and train station.
Furthermore, the apartment has several facilities which allow us to stay there comfortably.
