Gateway to the western fjords, Bergen is a picture-perfect postcard of Norway at its best. Colorful, wooden houses in UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bryggen contrast wonderfully with the lush greenery of the surrounding Seven Mountains.
For fantastic views of Norway’s 2nd largest city, hop on the cable car to Ulriken Mountain. Alternatively, hike or take the funicular railway up to Fløyen Mountain. With beaches sheltered from the North Sea by islands, Bergen is Norway’s busiest port and a popular starting point for fjord cruises and deep sea fishing.
The fish market in the narrow streets of the historic centre is a popular attraction, while just north is 12th-century St Mary’s Church. Around 1,000 years younger is Bergenhus, one of Norway’s best-preserved forts. Further north is Gamle Bergen, a reconstructed wooden village offering insight into the past.
Cobbled Strandgaten street and Lagunen Storsenter shopping center are just some shopping options, but items aren’t cheap. As you wander around the city look for work by Dolk, Norway’s best-known street artist. Other cultural attractions include many museums and a good music scene ranging from classic to indie.
Booking.com’s range of Bergen accommodation extends out towards Bergen Airport in Flesland, the departure point for many workers on the offshore oil and gas rigs.

Bergen is a beautiful small city with interesting architecture, plenty of things to do and places to eat. We would recommend visiting the aquarium as it is the best that we have ever seen and also taking a fjord cruise to experience the dramatic scenery close up.

The old town and the history and culture were amazing.
The old town and the history and culture were amazing. Rain or no rain, wouldn't miss it for the world!
The weather was awful - raining all the time and no chance of an aurora sighting. Couldn't go on the cable car, or hike or walk around town much because of the rain. I would love to go back in better weather though!

Great place!
Great place! Its a sight to behold during the night with such well lit luminous buildings and so scenic during the day. So much to see in this place. The Bryggen area, the funicular and the port area are a few of the highlights. Plenty of eating options. I ate at Namaste Bergen and Subway and liked both. Public transport is great and one can use the Skyss app to buy tickets.

Beautiful city and we would have liked to explore more we just didn't have enough time. Easy to get to from out of town if you are near the light railway tracks which runs from the Airport to the city centre.

The people were awesome!
The people were awesome! Public transportation was very efficient. We ate at the hotel and were only there one night, the night before leaving for a cruise. There wasn't really anything open at the time we were there.

A very comfortable hotel in a great location. The rooms are clean, modern and well equipped. Every member of staff I spoke to was helpful, smiley and very friendly.
At the end of my 10-day stint travelling around Norway I’d come accustomed to starting the day with an excellent breakfast, and WOW! I was not disappointed the first morning I came down. At first you don’t know where to start. Thankfully I stayed 3-nights so I tried everything by the time I left. I’d stay here again for the breakfast alone….
In short EVERYTHING!!
This was the best stay we ever had during our all time vacation. Amazing apartment. It truly deserves the highest rating among all options. I strongly recommend this to all who want to have a good stay experience along with exploring beautiful Norway overall.
Nice clean apartment in the heart of Bergen city, near to Byparken metro.
Excellent location, in the very centre, three or four minutes from the harbour. The room was not huge, but big enough considering Norway's prices. It was all clean, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was small but serviceable (toiletries were provided). It is a good place to stay three days in Bergen, or more, if you don't need luxury.
Amazing place with super friendly and helpful staff. Nice atmosphere, close to everything downtown Bergen. Quiet, comfortable bed and pillows. I got the best sleep here during my entire stay in Norway. The breakfast was beyond my expectations, vegan and gluten free options, two different types of plant based milk...
The best apartment for my whole trip in Norway and north Euro, super comfortable and like at home, beautiful view and beautiful design, everything is amazing,wI will be here if travel to Bergen again.
