The location was excellent, very close to ski lift and rental place (about 5 minute walk across a parking lot). Breakfast was great with daily specials included (ham & eggs, french toast, etc.). The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Lisa, who is the manager and personally checked in with us every day to make sure we had everything we needed and to give tips on local food and how to get around. The atmosphere overall was like being part of the family. We particularly liked the large dining room / bar area where you can come down after a long day and play games to relax. The rooms were simple, but absolutely adequate for a family of 4. The beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable, which is very important after a day of skiing.

Location is directly across from JR Nagano station and beside Tokyu department store. Makes for easy sunset walks to Zenkoji Temple and even lingering at the temple after dark. The 24-hour Seiyu supermart is a 2-minute walk away if you need the seasonal foods such as Apple juices. Plus car rentals are nearby if you want an easier time at Togakushi mountain shrine area.
What an adventure!! We mistakenly selected Nagano. We thought we were going to Kyoto!! Anyway, we found Nagano to be a cute, walkable town. We really enjoyed the area around Zenkoji Temple. The food and ice cream was delicious. There was a shuttle to the train. Most useful!!
Together with the 5am Zenkoji temple visit this is a meaningful and unique experience. The lodging is a small, Intimate ryokan-style room. There is a nice indoor onsen. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the vegetarian food was delicious . The temple visit at dawn with an excellent English -speaking guide was a major highlight of Japan for us, as well as an insight into Buddhist belief and practice. Yet alongside a tradition of a thousand years of pilgrimages to the Zenkoji temple next door the lodging also had fast modern wifi!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The rooms are smaller in size which is the norm in Japan which was fine with us. The breakfast was very good. It provided various options, whether continental, American or Japanese. The locations was ideal since it is in walking distance from train station and we walked to Zenkoji Temple at night and felt very safe.
Less than 10 minute walk to Nagano station. Has a convenience store across the street. Walking distance to Zenkoji temple and shopping mall (at the train station). A lot of restaurants nearby.
Great location in the immediate pedestrian-only area of Zenkoji temple. Very nice walking around that area and temple. I was able to attend a 7am service at the temple, which was great. The hotel is on the original site of the main temple building (1000 years ago...). The staff were very kind, helpful, and available. Breakfast and dinner were both very good and enjoyable. I enjoyed their public bath. The bus to and from the train station was easy and quick. Highly recommended.
The location is very near the Nagano train station. It was an easy walk to the Zenkoji temple too.
The room was spacious, bigger than the 4 star hotel we stayed in Tokyo .

Great location. Its a 5 min walk away from Nagano station. It was good for taking a quick trip to Zenkoji Temple in the morning, which is 16 mins away by bus.
Hotel room was on the small end for a double room, but we didn't mind. The staff was very polite and helpful when helping international tourists check in. The free breakfast was tasty and filling. Check out was very fast.
