The private Onsen are the absolute highlight of this guesthouse. Capsule/covens for sleeping in the shared bedroom seemed very spacious. I loved the Tatami in the traditional living room and the bedrooms. Breakfast is onsen-rice porridge, great local experience! (Not for everyone though) Location is brilliant for several hikes around Kumano Kodo (starting directly behind the guesthouse or taking the bus for other routes). I had a wonderful and very relaxing time.
Boasting garden views, Guesthouse Okagesan provides accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 19 km from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art.

we were fortunate to have the whole house to ourselves and really love the place
it was good to have the heavy plastic sheets to block the cold and tatami floors were great to sleep on

Manabu-san was a great host, and we enjoyed yakitori at his restaurant

Incredible view over the river from the room - absolutely stunning. Friendly and helpful staff and a comfortable stay. Lovely inside and outdoor onsen available to use. Also enjoyed the foot massage machine!

Definitely visit the public onsen here, it is modern and clean. However, I think it would b e better to stay in one of the Ryokan here as they have even nicer Onsen with access to the outside. The private onsen at the Yunomine public onsen does not have access to the outside, I dont know about the others. A wander around the little streets of Yunomine is charming, as is the short hike on the Kumano Kodo iup to a small hill top shrine.
