FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

There is a GREAT Onsen just a block or so away called "Thermae-Yu". Fantastic, we went every night. TIP: get the 1 hour oil massage then go to the Onsen...you'll sleep like a baby. Food is abundant and fabulous. If you need a quick snack for a day of walking/hiking, hit the 7-11 (yeah, no kidding, it's NOT your US 7-11, lots of good food for taking with)

Tokyo was one of the best trips of our life!

Tokyo was one of the best trips of our life! We were worried about not speaking the language, but the city provides excellent navigation in English and you can bumble your way through the city. Our favorite spots to visit include the Tokyo Skytree mall, Kirby Cafe, Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo Disney, PARCO mall in Shinjuku, Harajuku for shopping, any temples, and Akihibara for anything nerd related or arcade related. We also took a few days to travel down to Nagoya for the Ghibli Park and to visit a few temples (the Shinkansen, high spped bullet train across the country, made this very possible) For food - I highly recommend using Tablog. This is the "Yelp" for the locals and provides awesome insight on what the locals eat (though many of the local places will not speak English, so be prepared to use Google Translate and point at the menu!).

Super crowded with lots of tourists.

Super crowded with lots of tourists. But, it is the capital of Japan and where 2 airports serve this city, it is expected to be jammed pack with tourists. Literally, a city which does not sleep, it is abuzz with activities for all age groups and the people are welcoming to all who are considerate just like them. Also thoughtful and always bending their back to help foreigners to maximize their tour experience. It is indeed a remarkable country for the whole world to experience the exquisite hospitality.

The hotel is very conveniently located: 15 min walk from Shinjuku station, 30 min metro ride to Shibuya. Starbucks and Daisy’s (a bakery) is closeby for a simple breakfast. Hotel breakfast was quite tasty as well, and they even make the fluffy pancakes on order. The room was neat, clean, and spacious enough to store 4 pieces of luggage. The bed was very comfortable even though a bit small. It was quiet in the room and we had a restful stay. In the lobby there are tons of amenities. Staff was helpful and professional.

This hotel is located in a central part of Shibuya and is easily walkable to Harajuku. It has a "cool" vibe with an Italian restaurant on the main floor and a coffee shop/bar on the ground floor. The staff were helpful when we needed them but generally hands-off as you check-in and check-out on computers in the lobby yourself. Our room was on the 13th floor so we didn't hear any street noise, which was nice. My husband and I enjoyed our stay overall.
