I have never sent in a review for my bookings but for this accommodation, I really must. The overall experience at Residence Hotel was beyond my expectations.
First, let's start with the room and facilities. The room was clean and spacious. It was extremely helpful that there was a washing machine for us to use. We even cooked and the ventilation was good enough for no smell to linger behind. Of course, the toilets are clean as always, just like most hotels I've stayed in Japan. I am extremely particular about cleanliness and the state of the rooms I book, so this accommodation really exceeded my expectations.
Next, the service. It was exceptional. Here is the context to my comment: On the third day of our stay, we realised the fridge wasn't working. It was definitely working the first two days because we kept fruits and groceries in them. I went to the concierge and a staff member went up to help me get it running. They told me to inform them if it still didn't work the next day. Unfortunately, it did not work but we were too lazy to let them know. We decided to let them know when we checked out so that they could get it fixed before the next guest arrives. Later, the female staff I spoke to about the fridge gave us a box of Japanese snacks to apologise for the fridge even though they didn't have to. She mentioned that they felt bad that the fridge spoiled when we were staying there for our anniversary. This thought and care in their service recovery was so heartwarming and I am so appreciative of it. Her service was also exceptional because prior to the gift, I had to trouble her to help me make cancellations for my other reservations on the phone. My biggest regret was not getting her name so that I can credit her here.

I'm honestly baffled at how outstanding value for money this apartment was - it was enormous, tastefully furnished, came with a lovely tatami area, and even had complimentary drinks in the fridge. Staff were very friendly and helpful, there were free laundry facilities, and the breakfast was good. Absolutely everything I could have asked for after an intensive few days in the mountains, and at a much lower price than practically anything comparable that I could find in Takayama.

Honestly, I was surprised to find this hotel with big rooms and comfortable beds. The bathroom are of good size and clean.

The location is good being within walking distance of Takayama station. There are also several good restaurants nearby including Matsusaka beef on the menu! It is a short walking distance to the old historical quarter and many of the towns sights and Matsuri Museum. The Morning Market is also close by aong the river. There are also several fine temples close by. Hotel was lovely decor and layout.
The ryokan exceeded our expectation with its friendly and very accommodating staff (they all spoke pretty good English!), the spacious and comfortable room with a separate large onsen bathtub for the true ryokan experience. Hotel is conveniently located close to the old town area and minutes away from Takayama station.
The hotel staff service is 100%! We bought a long souvenir wooden stick and needed to check how to do baggage delivery. Staff sourced for random cardboard boxes and volunteered to wrap for us! We were so grateful. Location is superb. Just a stone's throw away from.Takayama Station. Washer n Dryer worked perfectly for us as we were able to wash n dry our ski clothes to repack into luggage before travelling back to Nagoya.
The location is right beside the Takayama Station. And they have onsen in their hotel. All guests have free dinner in the hotel restaurant. They also have some amenities such as comb, bubble bath, etc in the receptionist area.
Room size, the hotel is not so close to the Takayama station but the hotel provides transfer. The hotel installations are amazing, close to the hotel there is a family mart.
A lovely business hotel about halfway between Takayama Station and the old town, this property sat in a goldilocks zone of sorts; it's a great deal cheaper than many more "traditional" accommodations.
The only good sized room that we booked in Japan. I searched for hotel rooms for two adults and two kids and none of the hotels had space for the 4th person except for this one thats why I really appreciated four beds. kitchenette had everything essential that we needed. bathroom had laundry which was great help specially when you are with toddlers. shower was amazing. there is a 7/11 across the street and Takayama station and bus stop are about a 6 min walk. loved everything about this hotel.
