The western style beds are very comfortable. Both the breakfast and dinner menu were excellent. They vary the menu everyday as we stayed there for 3 nights.
Very close to the Takachiho shrine.
A 5-minute drive from the spectacular Takachiho Gorge, Ryokan Shinsen offers rooms with a Japanese-style decor and free Wi-Fi, some of which have open-air baths.

Clean and cozy. I loved the space and privacy that this log cabin had provided. There was everything that we needed during our stay. My cabin was the cute brown one built by the host’s father in law. My husband enjoyed the stove fire, which Mr Yagawa, the host, kindly showed us how to do it. I could see that Mr Yagawa was taking care of his properties well here and there, and felt his hospitality. I felt like I was at the home and I also enjoyed the conversations with him as well. Although my cabin was right next to the street, I wasn’t bothered with the sounds of automobiles which sometimes passed by. The futon beds in the mezzanine were also firm and warm. I liked it. The stairs were steep and probably not for seniors, or the people who are afraid of heights (there were three other cabins without stairs). There were a lot of outlets and extension cord for us to charge our electric devices. Also Wifi was available. It was dark and quiet at the midnight and we slept so well. I enjoyed and loved the “Gokase” green tea which Mr Yagawa shared with us (it was in the tea container on the refrigerator) and had to buy some at the local market for myself later. Overall, my husband I were very satisfied with this log cabin and Mr Yagawa’s services. We want to stay longer next time.
