Honestly, every single thing about this place is amazing. From the staff and how they treat you, to the cleanliness of the whole building and the rooms. The staff were so helpful when we were stuck in Kyoto due to the Typhoon.

The location is very good, a few minutes away from the metro. The lobby and its design are nice and spacious. The free refreshments are very nice. The employees are very sweet and polite and also meticulous. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. It is very nice that they provide free bicycle service. You can purchase tickets for Nijo Castle online and do remember to take the full package which includes the tour of the palace (sorry, can't remember what it's called) which housed the Daimyo back then and has since been maintained. Very nice historical trip!

The first 4 floors are just museum floors - art, history of the castle, etc. If you just want to see the incredible panoramic view at the top get in the line for the elevator which skips those middle floors and goes to the 5th. Otherwise you will have to climb all the flight of stairs regardless if you want to see what's on them. Get there early though - the elevator line gets very long very quickly and the entrance line is just as bad. People start queuing up in line before it even opens.

The main part of the castle is closed and completely covered by scaffolding. There was no discount to the ticket or real acknowledgement of this at the entrance to the castle, so we felt pretty bamboozled by the time we walked in. It was a heck of a disappointment. The other sections of the grounds that were open were amazing, so I'm sure we would have loved the castle if we could go in it. The plum blossoms were also starting to bloom and they were stunning.

Hotel was centrally located in front of the Kyoto train station and bus stand make the transportation to Kyoto tourist areas or Tokyo/Osaka very easy. The hotel is situated little bit away from tourists areas such as nijo castle,Gion etc but can reach via public transport (mainly via bus) easily.
Room is very clean and modern .washroom was clean and had all amenities.view of Kyoto train station from room is picturesque at night with Shinkansen trains. There are many eateries, 7/11 nearby.
The pillow was very soft, which was nice after months of hard pillows all over Japan lol. Basic and fairly clean, great for 1-2 nights. 10 mins walk to Nijo Castle 👍
The spa within the hotel was really helpful after walking the whole day and facilities were clean and common room is very warm and inviting. It is very near to Nijo Castle, so a stroll at night was extremely beautiful
Nice and compact apartments. Having a cooker and washing machine was great. Although it is a self service hotel, all our queries were promptly answered and we also got great help to send our luggages to Haneda Airport. Nice walk to Nijo Castle.
It was very close to Nijo Castle and other sites, as well as bus stops. Very good starting point to travel all around Kyoto. The apartment, although small, is perfect for the two nights we stayed there. Very clean and tidy. Staff was very welcoming and accomodating, and quick to respond to messages.

Also close to a subway station if you want to travel more cheaply than by taxi; and very easy to get to Nijo castle and Imperial palace and gardens.
