We think that the breakfast was amazing in terms of quantity, quality and presentation. Breakfast came as a set meal, alternating between western and Japanese food. Both were delicious. The staff were very helpful, polite and hospitable. The hotel has a homely vibe with lots of books, cds at the lounge area. Our room was equipped with a good cd player and a coffee beans grinder.

Loved visiting Mt Hakodate, it gave incredible views of the city and sea. It is recommended to see it at night and they even have an estimated time for when night views start at the Ropeway station. I went when it was light and stayed until it got dark. My only warning would be that it gets VERY busy once it gets dark, the carpark was empty when I went up, when I came down (just after it got dark) there were many coaches and it showed up on the mountain. It was very hard to see the view from the top once it got busy. I went to where the paid photographer was and looked from there instead, less busy and just as beautiful view.

You can walk to the mountain Mt.
You can walk to the mountain Mt. Hakodate, you need about 40 minutes. During the day you have a nice view over the city and you can save the entrance fee to the Goryokaku Tower because the view at the Mountain is better. It is also recommended to visit the mountain in the evening. Then you can overlook the city and the harbor with evening lighting (the bus is cheaper than the cable car).

This property was at a good location for what I wanted to see. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the Kanemori Warehouses, a 30-35 minute walk from the old town hall and churches, and a 30-40 minute walk from the ropeway. Mt. Hakodate is within view from the street. There's also a street car stop not far that can take you to Goryokaku Park/Tower. I found the facilities clean and squared and decorative yet sparse. Downstairs reminded me a little of someone's grandparents' house, while upstairs reminded me of a college dorm.
It's close to attractions such as Mt. Hakodate. The owners were incredibly sweet and nice, and went above and beyond for us. If I ever go back to Hakodate, this will be the first place I want to stay.
JR Inns seem to always have great locations, right on top of the station ! Room was great with stunning view towards Mt. Hakodate.
We didn't take the breakfast, preferring to visit the nearby market but a casual glance suggested it was pretty good.
The room was very clean and had toiletries available if you forgot to pack them. The bathroom is a bit small, but adequate. The staff was great and very accommodating, holding our bags after we checked out until we were ready to leave for our next destination. The location is good with about a ten minute walk to the train station and bus terminal. It is also not too far from the Red Brick Warehouse area and maybe a 20 minute walk to the Mt. Hakodate Ropeway. The area though does feel very empty after the markets close.
Great breakfast buffet, relaxing rooftop hot spring with view of Mt. Hakodate. Location is conveniently located within 15 minutes walk (or 3-5 min taxi) from Hakodate Station, and is accessible by bus route as well. With its location at the mid point between Mt. Hakodate ropeway station, Hakodate Station, and only a few minutes walk from the morning market area, you’re in for a treat. La Vista Hakodate Bay was also conveniently located close to the Red Brick Warehouse shopping district.
