Many things too see, not enough time. Too crowded, need time to learn how to walk effectively. Metro system is superb. People are very respectful, perhaps a bit too much. Many things we can learn from. However, the quiet culture maybe can be a bit too much. Ramen is too salty.

We have been to Tokyo twice (2013 & 2024), for a total of 12 days. We are experienced world travelers, and Tokyo is absolutely one of our favorite cities to visit. Do you love museums? Gardens? Shrines and temples? Shopping? Baseball? Otaku culture? Amusement parks? Nightlife? River cruises? First-class sushi, ramen, Japanese dining, and every other cuisine in the world? Traveling in a clean, safe city with polite people and absurdly efficient, well-designed and user-friendly rail systems? Well, Tokyo has all that and much, much more.

Tokyo is an amazing and friendly city for first time travellers to visit. Everything is well signposted and the people of Tokyo are only too happy to help. Learn some basic Japanese phrases before you go - like konnichiwa, ohayo gozaimasu, arigato, sumimasen, onigai shimasu - and some ways to behave, like boring and when to take your shoes off - and that way you’ll have a lot more fun too and you won’t feel awkward! Hope you have as wonderful a time as we did!

Boutique style hotel with a lovely foyer sitting area, and another chill out area upstairs with vending machine, washing machines and dryers. Decor was modern & the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Even helped with tourist info and booking transport for us. All spoke English which was really helpful. Outstanding view from the little rooftop area of Tokyo skytree. Convenient short walks to two subway stations, and 15 min walk to Ueno station. Lovely to come back to peace & quiet after the craziness of Shibuya and Shinjuku!
Perfect location, 1 min walk to Oedo line Higashi Shinjuku, 12 min walk to JR Shinjuku, can easily get to anywhere by train or bus.
Also, the room is quite clean. Even besides a main road in downtown, the inside is quiet once the door is closed. The queen bed is soft.
I booked this room for my family to stay. They are satisfied with the fully equipped desgin. The hotel provide every utensils needed.
Love, loved to hotel and the area. Was not sure about Ginza compared to Shibuya or Shinjuku but SO glad we went here instead. So many incredible restaurants, shopping and great location close by. Highly recommended and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and comfort of the hotel and amenities.
Great location. Easy walk to Shinjuku Station. Perfect for us since my husband was running the Tokyo marathon and it started literally outside the hotel ! Decent sized rooms with good amenities. Enjoyed the breakfast .
Perfect place to stay for the first time in Tokyo. Easy to reach various districts, including imperial palace, akihabara, ueno, shinjuku, shibuya and so on. Many thanks to the Hotel Niwa Tokyo!
