We stayed in a lot of great places during our trip to Japan, but this was my favorite. The house was beautiful and atmospheric, like something out of a dream. The host was friendly and helpful. We met him at his restaurant down the block and he showed us to the property and recommended a nearby hot spring. The house is located in the Hongu area, a ten or fifteen minute walk from the bus stop that will take you to the shrines and Kumano Kodo.

The hosts were friendly and helpful to offer a pickup service from Kii-Tanabe station & drop off at Takijiri to start my hike on Kumano Kodo next morning. I did the five-course dinner option & it was delicious - pumpkin tortellini, wagyu beef, homemade goat cheese cheesecake! Location was quiet. please note it’s only accessible by car or a 2-hour walk from Takijiri, which is why the pickup was so helpful!
