The hotel is very clean and the capsule is a little room with everything you need. There’s even a TV! There’s an Onsen. It was great to use. The location is perfect; very close to the train/bus station and right across from the supermarket.

The hotel was modern, like Scandinavian lodge design. Cozy at night and bright for morning coffee outside on terrace. Rooms were new, comfortable and much bigger than average Japan. We read reviews and knew that there was no food service. So we brought something for breakfast that we could heat-up in the common kitchen area and enjoy with the free coffee they provided.

The hosts were charming and helpful. The breakfasts and dinners were copious and good, and very appreciated considering that the location is far from stores and restaurants for those without a car. Because of this, it was also very quiet, which is appreciated.

Get there early and park close to the falls.
Get there early and park close to the falls. Parking isn't expensive and after you see the falls, you can leave your car there and walk down to the Lake and carry on via the boat tour to see other area attractions.

The staff were very welcoming and spoke wonderful English. Whenever we entered the hotel, they greeted us chirpily! During the check-in process, the staff made many wonderful recommendations regarding the restaurants and supermarket in the area, the best ways to get to the areas we intended to visit, and were just so genuine and warm to us, and made us feel at home. The location was also very central, if you are interested in visiting Kegon Falls, Ryuzu Falls, Lake Chuzenji, so it was absolutely perfect.
Great view of the lake from our 4th floor window with a sofa facing outside. Good food and staff. They spoke enough English and always had a smile. The parking is a little tight but we parked in the back on a much less busy street. Walked along the lake and to kegon falls.
This was my second stay at Turtle Inn and it was just as great as I remembered it to be. The staff are so kind and helpful, the breakfast is delicious. I've never had such great fruit! The location in Nikko is perfect! It's right by the river, a short walk to the shrines and very close to the bus stops to go to Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji. The are is quiet with a conbini nearby of you need snacks and the onsen bath is THE BEST. My friend who came with me is from Aomori and she said the onsen was super high quality.
