Service was amazing. The property helped my fiance plan a surprise proposal, and indeed it was a wonderful surprise! They were all so lovely, and we really felt like this was a nice break from the rest our busy Japan trip. The ryokan was beautiful, everything was impeccably clean, and we felt so comfortable and did not want to leave. Hakone Gora Byakudan will definitely hold a very special place in our hearts.

Beautiful design, attentive service, delicious breakfast. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The location was excellent, just a short drive away to Gora station and the hotel was able to drive us to and from the station with only a few minutes’ wait. Shuttle to Odawara (40 min away) was also very helpful.
Location is very easy to get to from the Gora station. The Onsen facilities are nice. They will feel a bit more grungy than a modern place, but its nice and feels rustic and like its been there forever. The gift shop is nice, and the grounds are beautiful. Our view from the hotel room was great. The restaurant wait staff was fabulous. The room size for the one we booked was quite large and we had plenty of room to spread out a bit which was nice.
Beautiful location and beautifully maintained property. Amazing staff who were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about Hakone. Shuttle service to and from Gora station was very reliable. And of course the spa facilities are exceptional. The cleanliness of our room and the entire hotel were spotless.

We liked our room that was clean, comfortable and big enough for 4 people. It had all the usual Japanese hotel amenities (like slippers and yukata).
We also liked the small onsen and communal space and kitchenette available for guests usage on the 3rd floor.
The hotel is steps away from Hakone Tozan train Gora station and cable car station, near Gora Park. Lawson store and Open Air Museum is a 10-minute walk or 1 train station away.
From Gora station, it is easy to walk here, even with luggage. It is some combination of hostel, hot spring hotel, bar, and coffee house. The staff speaks very good English, and very friendly and helpful. The place is clean. And there are two hot spring baths in the place.
The facilities were charming and well-cared for, and the amenities were just as promised. We loved the complimentary snacks and drink bar, and the breakfast buffet was excellent as well. Especially when compared to other places in Japan, the size of the suite was more than enough room to stretch out and enjoy our stay. The public bath facilities were also well-stocked and very clean, with clear instructions on proper etiquette when using them. The hotel itself was also located just a few minutes walk from Gora Station.
