Fufu Hakone provides a five-star Japanese Onsen hotel experience. I loved almost every aspect of the hotel except the location, lol. But the free shuttle service is quite helpful as well. We used the shuttle to travel between the hotel and Gora station before check-in and from the hotel to Sōunzan station when we checked out. The service of the hotel was professional, polite, respectful, and personally oriented. It was a very impressive stay. The Japanese Kaiseki Ryori was delicious and artfully presented. We only spent one night at the hotel because we were informed that the rooms were fully booked the next day, we would definitely come back for our holidays to Japan.

Second time staying at this property and whilst I thought my first stay was fantastic my experience was further enhanced by the English competency of the staff present this time around which meant for no misunderstandings. The facilities are great for onsen with indoor and outdoor facilities, as well as cypress hot tub in the bedroom. Above all the food is Michelin worthy multi course for dinner and breakfast with various wine and non alcoholic pairings. Its modern interpretation of Japanese traditional cuisine from the region, locally sourced really imaginative. Really fantastic stay again and would visit when next on business in Tokyo.

We really enjoyed our stay here! When you entered Byakudan, you can smell sandalwood right away, it’s so calming and it’s a vibe. The staff welcomed us with fresh green tea and japanese snacks. Everything was done perfectly and the staff were so nice and helpful. The girl who served us during dinner and breakfast, her name is Saki, she was so helpful and nice to us, even wrote us a little thank you note before our departure. It was so sweet of her. And we hope to see her again during our next stay in Byakudan :)

Hotel is very new and modern. The staff are helpful and can understand English well. The spa was nice and clean. The room is very spacious, the bed is very comfortable, can cook inside the room w electric plate and supermarket is just few minutes walk. The breakfast was good enough w choices.

It’s just a few minutes walk from Gora station, love that the cafe down the road, serves good food at 10%disc for hostel guests. Very authentic Japanese experience - old rustic building, onsen, tatami mats. Staffs very helpful and cheerful at any time of the day we meet them. Despite having to share the shower room, it’s kept clean.
Enjoyed our Ryokan style stay. The hotel has a shared bathing onsen/shower area, has massage chairs, outdoor foot soaks and not to mention the view from the room. The location is abit of a trek to get to but there are daily transfer service from the hotel to Gora station as well as when you depart the hotel with your luggage. The staff were friendly, however spoke very little English. We really enjoyed our stay here.
The hostel is located on uphill. Hence u have to walk and climb for 15mins from Gora Station. I love the private onsen as well. And the host is able to speak simple english. Overall, i am happy for the price i paid.
Fantastic location just above Gora station. Very spacious apartment, spread over three floors. Traditional style, with tatami mats in all the living spaces and traditional low dining area, with an additional table and chairs in the kitchen. Well appointed, modern kitchen with everything we needed. Clean, modern bathroom (powerful shower), with separate toilets.

The extras they offered such as snacks and clothing, however this does not make the hotel good value for money. The location is fairly average, very close to Gora station however if i'd go to Hakone again I would book somewhere by the lake with a view of the mt fuji.
We stayed in rooms with a private onsen each. The hotel and rooms are beautifully furnished with tatami mats and plants and you are offered pyjamas and a yukata to wear at the hotel. The onsen was nice and relaxing. Breakfast was offered with our service, where we had a very generous Japanese meal. The staff were very kind and helpful, and the shuttle service back to Gora station came in handy in wet weather!
This was the best hotel we stayed in during our month in Japan. The location, right next to Gora station, is perfect. The staff, who all spoke some English, we're delightful. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The onsen was a real treat. And the set dinner was probably the best meal we had anywhere in Japan. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
First off Hakone should definitely be a destination for anyone visiting Japan and this spa retreat hotel was exceptional and a highlight of the holiday. The onsen was very clean and felt luxurious, the lounge area offered free soft drinks during the day, snacks and then alcoholic beverages in the evening (for FREE!). The yukata were comfortable and the room was pleasant. The breakfast was really good. Walkable to a Lawson and Gora station for cable cars/ropeway excursion and a train station to Odawara for Shinkansen
Right next to Gora station so once current rail station work completed, once again there will be direct tunnel access to the hotel. Very friendly and helpful reception staff member on arrival. Nice buffet breakfast with a mix of western and Japanese food.
