Best onsen, really great dinner and breakfast, the hotel is small and cozy, it’s quiet and I would love to highlight the BEST hospitality from the staff!! The first day we arrive at Gora station, we use the public phone at the station to call the hotel asking for pick up service. She arrived in minutes. And even helped us to carry our heavy luggage. The next day she sent us to the bus station as she knew that we would like to visit the museum where the bus station had the direct bus to access. Well on the last day we felt sorry for checked out 30 minutes late, but she still sent us to the train station which we REALLY appreciated it!!

There are plenty of places to eat here in Hakone! The people are beautiful and extremely helpful. (to all the locals that went out of their way to help two foreign travelers, THANK YOU) The food was outstanding, we NEVER had a bad meal. We ate dinner at an out of the way resturant suggested by a nice lady I met at the coin laundrymat! (Soba noodles with local fresh vegetables and fish) The second time, our "information officer" at the hotel brought us to his friends very small local kitchen for some authentic local dinner. Again, simply delicious.
The friendlyness of the people is what made our time in Hakone unforgettable. Oh yeah, there are plenty of places to shop local japanese made products.

Beautiful country side, very relaxing and people are cordial and kind. Rode the Ropeway on Cable train and riding the Gondolas 🚠 up to see the Owakudani Valley, Black Eggs of Hakone. Surfer beds you must see. We could see the top of Mt.Fuji in a clear day.

We arranged to stay 2 nights in Hakone at Hakone Retreat Villas. I was a bit worried that we wouldn't need that much time in Hakone, but boy was I wrong. It would have been great to extra night and day for relaxation at the retreat and leisurely exploration of the area. For example, it would be great to devote an entire day at the Open Air Museum!

Without doubt, the beautiful scenery of Hakone and surrounding region. We did the loop using the Hakone FreePass, well worth it. If you have time, spend an extra night and if you like a bargain, go to the Gotemba Premium Outlets. The direct bus from the train station is included in the FreePass and takes about an hour direct. It weaves through the various towns throughout the mountains and if lucky, you will see Mt Fuji (if going to the outlets, sit on the right hand side of the bus!)

Hakone is the base for exploring Lake Ashi, national parks, temples and art galleries. I could have easily spent a week or two there. It is a popular destination for Japanese tourists so don't expect everyone to speak English, but we got by fine with sign language and a few key words. We didn't get to try the hot spring baths but I would definitely do that next time around.

We stayed after a hectic few days in Tokyo and loved the peace and calm of Hakone Suimeisou. Our stay was an opportunity to experience a traditional ryokan and traditional Japanese cuisine. We loved everything about our stay from the private onsen and kimonos to sleeping on futons and the tatami flooring. The hotel is right on the river, and literally across the road from the station - the rooms are spacious and the staff were lovely.
Our host for the time, Mia, was just amazing. She works hard to make the experience of staying at this hotel truly memorable. It's the best accommodation experience we have ever had, and so personable. Everything from check-in, to the traditional Japanese foods for breakfasts and dinners, the private room-allocated onsen and check-out were just outstanding. I can't wait to return to Hakone and stay here.
position and view are really good for this hotel. family room are large and well equipped with kimono to be used during the stay. Onsen is well organized with indoor and outdoor pool. 2 minutes walk to the Hakone Rope line, lake cruise boat and bus connection . excellent breakfast and dinner. the hotel offer a shuttle bus from and to Odawara station (Shinkansen stops there)
The hotel is located close to the Hakone Yumoto station. This means it is easy to reach and you can explore the rest of the Hakone area via train.
The public bath/onsen in the hotel is great.
I tried the Chinese restaurant in the hotel and the food was great.
