We were stranded when our flight was canceled due to bad weather. The staff helped us to find rooms, and arranged the rooms close together. Additionally, the desk clerk helped me order pizza on the phone, since I do not know Japanese. Extremely helpful!

We enjoyed all the extras. Breakfast was mainly Japanese and extensive They had an afternoon tea/ice cream/sweets session and at night they had drinks, including alcohol, and some snacks. We did enjoy their educational materials that they had sites close by the hotel.

The breakfast was good, but outside of the hotel. It was my first time with shared bathrooms and it really didn't bother me as much as expected. It's really well placed being right in front of Gojo Station and just a few minutes away from Kyoto station (by subway)
The beds were very comfortable and clean! The hostel itself is walking distance from both Kyoto and Gojo station as well as city bus stops. The showers are also very clean and hairdryer / towel is included in stay! Staff was very accommodating as well when I asked to switch beds as my original bed had placed under the AC.
The staff were really helpful and courteous. The hotel is at a very convienient location, close to many train and bus stations (only a few minutes walk from Gojo station). Breakfast is good, with choices of Japanese and Western food. Rooms are clean and have many amnenties.
We had a most enjoyable and unforgettable stay at Tanakaya. The staff were friendly, attentive and very helpful. They made my kids feel special with gestures such as origami ninja stars and paper cutting decorations on our room door. There was a lot of attention paid to details such little vases of fresh flowers. The room was comfortable and cosy. The location was great! Lots of restaurants and shops and close to Gojo station. Our stay at Tanakaya was definitely the highlight of our time in Kyoto, which itself is an amazing city.
Very good location, few minutes walk to Kiyomizu temple. 15mins walk to Yasaka-Schrein. 13mins walk to Kiyomizu-Gojo station. Many bus stations around, easy to go to main attractions. Several convenient stores and one big 24 hours supermarket nearby. Room was clean with kitchen, washing machine. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Very good price for people who plans to stay in Kyoto for a longer time.
