Second time we have stayed here in the past 2 years and have always found it great. Close to everything that is required and the staff are really friendly and helpful. On our first visit here, we arrive lated into Kyoto, even though the team were supposed to leave at 10pm they remained at the front desk to welcome us as we had a small child.
Would book here again a third time :)

This was far easier a walk than I thought.
This was far easier a walk than I thought. It took maybe 45mins-1hr to reach the top. What slows you down is the number of people and dawdlers. There are many shrines to see on the way, which is spectacular. As a bushwalker, I loved this. Go early in the morning at 8am and start the walk, or go late in the afternoon to miss the crowds. The view over the city is amazing.

We arrived late in the afternoon (4:30pm/5pm) and walked to the top! It is really busy down the bottom but the crowds thin out the higher you go. The top is a bit of a let down with no real view, you wont miss out not going to the very top but I would recommend the viewing areas as the majority of instagrammers wont get that far and then you can appreciate the view over Kyoto.

We went on dusk and it added a beautiful light to the gates and shrines.
Mosquitos started to bite as the sun went down so would recommend insect repellent if you arevisiting in those times.
Car parking was free and very accessible.
There are hills and a combination of gentle stairs, steeper stairs and some very steep ramps so is semi accessible for people with mobility difficulties.
Toilet facilities are clean and in good locations.
Lots of great photo opportunities along the way and although it is very popular, most people are happy to pause along the trail to let you get a good photo (just be respectful and dont hog the space)
Food vendors are close by the entrance with lots of options

Long way (over 1.6km) from the metro/subway station - plan how you are going to get there and back.
Well worth visiting the full walk is quite a long way uphill but you can get a good feel with a shorter walk on the first part of the trail through the gates.
Looks amazing - just like the Instagram images.

For this one, you should book an entire day.
For this one, you should book an entire day. Early in the morning up until the afternoon. There are lots of paths towards the top of the mountain. Hidden temples, lakes and shops to discover and enjoy.
Always respect the temple and try to be as quiet as possible. There might be a lot of people taking pictures with the tori (gates), but if you walk a little farther, you'll be able to get yours alone.
Also, if you know the language, you'll be able to read the writings in each tori. It's always good to know what they are saying.
You'll feel peace and a sense of connection to nature and yourself.

Give yourself time and follow the tori path that leads all the way to the top of Mount Inari (accessible for non-trained travellers too). The walk to the top takes about one hour. Also, the further you go, the less tourists you will meet and the more enjoyable it will be
