Prior to our stay, Hubby and I were in London for a week and Dublin for two days. This visit to the castle was the best part of our trip! The gardens are beautiful! I loved seeing the sheep in the nearby pasture. We missed the afternoon tea and cakes, but got there in time for the dinner! It was delicious and presentation was exquisite. Special thanks to the dining room manager, Owen, for your hospitality! Our room was beautifully appointed, had a spacious en suite, claw foot tub, and a beautiful view of the garden. The next morning we were served a hot breakfast with an assortment of fruit, cheese and pastries. Hubby had the traditional Irish breakfast. I had the vegetarian eggs benedict with avocado, red onion marmalade and homemade vegetarian Irish pudding. It was amazing! Amanda, our breakfast server happily honored our request for two coffees to-go for our journey, then generously offered for us to take a box of cheese and pastries if we wished to. It felt like home! Thank you, Markree Castle staff!
