It is not what I expected. Interesting but a little dull.
It is not what I expected. Interesting but a little dull. Disappointed also that the “cafe” detailed in the gate entrance to the castle is no longer inside the castle courtyard as before. Now you have to walk outside the castle, around the chapel, and back alley or entrance, to a garden courtyard that takes you to another building not associated at all with the castle. That along with the renovation going on to what seems to be the chapel, made this whole experience very unpleasant. As well, castle had not any audio machines available for our self-tour and there were no guided tours available either. Not worth it.

Well worth buying at Dublin Castle, the annual pass OPW for 30 euros to see many wonderful buildings and gardens. The castle itself is one of the tours you can take - and you see the marvelous art, as well as parts not seen by the general public.

Not easy to get the history of this establishment from the guide books.
Like many things in Dublin, it's not necessarily the dry facts but the anecdotes that accompany them that bring the history to life!

Check before paying at the admission desk that all the rooms are open. When we went half were shut for a function but the person at the desk did not warn us of this. The only plus point is they give out a very good free guide.

Great location in temple bar district, just opposite from dublin castle, christchurch just a few minutes by feet, everything within walking district. very friendly staff. beautiful snd spacious room. great breakfast.
It was a classy hotel. A few minutes walk from and to airport coach stop. Tesco shop and a small restaurant just 1 min walk. By walk: 10 min to Temple Bar, 5 min to Trinity College, 15-20 min to Dublinha, Dublin Castle and St. Patricks, 10 meters to Leffey River.
And I think it is very important: I never heard any voice from neighbouring rooms. Maybe There were no one but it is the first time experiencing such silence.
The location was very convenient as it was just next to the tram station and you can walk to Christ Church, Dublin Castle, St. Patrick's cathedral, etc. Breakfast was excellent.
Excellent hotel, we had a lovely stay. Our room was very comfortable & clean. The staff in all areas were friendly and really helpful. Food at breakfast was good, food from the bar menue was lovely too and good value. The location is excellent, especially for the Guiness Brewery tour and Christchurch visit, an easy walk down to the Temple bar area, and the river, Dublin Castle is also just a short walk away. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
This hotel was very central close to Dublin castle and the city centre

Dublin Castle is in the medieval part of town, it's easy to spend a few hours in there. The current castle was built in late 1700's, is in a very good condition and it's worth a visit.

Be aware that places like Dublin Castle and Kilmainham Gaol are timed, escorted tours, so if you can book in advance do. Guinness Factory was a self tour, but best done on a weekday if possible as less crowded.
