This is a beautiful property at a great location. We had the junior suite which was very spacious. We didn't realise that we were staying right at La Ronda, and how busy the street gets in the evening, until we arrived. We were a bit concerned that it'd be very noisy at night, but we couldn't hear a thing from our room. It was a pleasant surprise. I should note though that our room didn't face the street, so I can't comment on rooms that do. It was also great to have security staff at the door, especially when the street was very busy at night.

Solid Hotel in Quito’s Historic Center
Hotel La Cierva de San Marcos is a good option for travelers. The staff were helpful and efficient in arranging transport and airport pick-up. Rooms were clean and reasonably spacious. The breakfast was good, with a fair variety of options over the three mornings we were there. The hotel’s location is definitely a strong point - situated in the historic center with easy access to restaurants and convenience stores. It provides good value for money and a comfortable stay. Would recommend for those seeking a practical accommodation in central Quito.
The 5-star Plaza Grande is on Plaza de la Independencia, Quito´s central square.

It is hard to summarize the incredibly wonderful stay we had at the Plaza Grande in Quito but I will try. To start, my wife and I had been traveling all over South America and were literally worn out by the time we reached the Quito airport via flight from Santiago. Our Uber driver was amazing as we slept on the drive from the airport to the hotel. Upon arrival at the Plaza near the hotel, our driver quickly became panic stricken gave us our bags and bid us adios. As it turned out, the President of Ecuador and his 10 car entourage were approaching our corner of the Plaza. We moved our bags aside, waved to the President and walked the few steps to the Hotel.
Seeing us approaching the hotel, Richard ran to us, grabbed our bags and welcomed us to hotel. We were greeted with warm wash clothes and complimentary drinks. From that point on, the Staff treated as if we were the President and first lady (literally). Business and pleasure travel have taken us all over the world and only on one other occasion have we been treated so royally (Le Grand Hotel in Cabourg, France).
Many people told us the 2 places to stay in Quito were Plaza Grande and the Casa Gangotena. They were wrong. The Plaza Grande is THE place to stay. Rooms are large and beautiful. Our view of the Plaza was breathtaking (btw the Plaza quiets down at night). The bathrooms are massive and every extra you can think of is available in the room. Complimentary wine and chocolates along with an Espresso machine and on and on. The day trip guide the hotel suggested was also amazing and our exploration of the volcanoes were epic. As an aside, the Plaza Grande is possibly the safest hotel in the world as the Palace next door has 24 hours armed guards. A bonus.
If you take one major trip this year; visit Ecuador. Spend at least 3 nights in Quito at the Plaza Grande; take day trips to the volcanoes and other sites and (we didn't have the time) go to the Galapagos Islands. It will be the trip of a lifetime.

Beautiful and fun, but beware walking alone at night to/from the street itself, especially if there are no crowds and good lighting. I was choked to unconsciousness from behind by a sneaky mugger less than 1 block away, between here and Plaza Santa Domingo.

Diana our host was very helpful with anything we needed. The location was convenient to Old Town and specifically Calle la Ronda. The mission of the organization that runs the hotel is to help abused women learn new skills in the hospitality industry and then place them in jobs in Quito. Diana is so wonderful and the fact that your stay is going to help a good cause makes it even better.
This hotel is a renovated Spanish style courtyard home. Many of the original design elements are intact, giving it an authentic historic feel. It's located in la Ronda district, complete with quaint shops and restaurants along cobblestone streets. Our room was spacious and clean, with nice wide windows. Meals are served either in a cosy little restaurant or in the courtyard.
We loved our stay at Casa Alquimia the first time we stayed in Quito that we knew we needed to stay again. This hotel will not disappoint! Helpful and friendly staff. Great location near Calle La Ronda in the historical section of town. The rooms are beautifully appointed, very comfortable and most importantly, clean. The building was very quiet despite being located in a busy section of town. Delicious breakfast. Strong wifi connection. They offer airport transfer service for a small fee.
Beautiful and very large apartment steps away from lots to do on the La Ronda but also no problems with noise or safety concerns. We loved Quito and this was a great place to stay while we visited for the first time. The staff was very helpful, carrying heavy bags up many flights of stairs, helping with parking, and coming to clean while we were gone.
One of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in, and for a usual hostel price! I liked the dorms, the games to play in the social spaces (foosball, air hockey, ping pong), the garden, the restaurant, the staff, free activities, and lots of spaces to hang out in! And the location - proximity to La Ronda.
Charming boutique hotel that was authentic and unique. Very good breakfast. We had part of our group arriving quite late and the staff was accommodating. It was nice that we were just block from La Ronda Street, where we felt we could safely walk at night to nearby restaurants (we had 8+ in our party).
location: a few steps away from calle la ronda, plaza santo domingo and plaza san francisco, many supermarkets and restaruantes nearby
spacious rooms in a historical building with a courtyard, you can see the panecillo from the 2nd floor
room balconies facing the streets are great for taking photos
windows and doors are seemingly original, they have styles and old-world charms. but for the same reason a bit worn out.
the owner was very accessible and helpful
wifi is very strong and smooth
reasonably priced, would stay again
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, doing everything possible for the guests to have an amazing stay. The place is huge, the rooms are cozy, the shower is hot and has great water pressure. The breakfast is included, fruit, egg, bread and marmelade as well as a juice and coffee or tea. The location is good, in the historic town and just next to the famous La Ronda. The hostel has a garden as well which is really nice to relax a bit from the busy city. The price is great for what you get!
I loved the staff and my room was nice and clean! I also enjoyed the location! I was able to check out “Calle la Ronda” which was an amazing tourist experience with lots of little shops and restaurants.
Convenient location to Central Quito. We were able to walk to the Basilica and La Ronda. Marisol at the front desk was helpful and kind. Water was warm. Great views. The place has character!
