The hotel is family owned and run by Don Mario and his wife. They were both wonderful hosts. My nephew and I felt at home. A beautiful city filled with character. It's position in the bottom of a valley makes it really unique with stunning mountains in every direction. I felt safe walking around the historic regions. The cathedral and the Virgin of El Panecillo are not to be missed!

We were told by our guides that the Level 2 security rating...
We were told by our guides that the Level 2 security rating by the US State Dept has reduced tourism in Quito and other spots in Ecuador, with most people we talked to saying you just need to be careful about when and where you go places. We had no problems in our 5 days in Quito, saw a fair amount of police presence, and felt safe in walking around the city by the basilica. We spent more time out of the city going to Cotopaxi NP, Mindo cloud forest, and middle of the earth and everything was fine. We ate breakfast at our hotel and only one dinner, because we would eat lunch in small villages where the local food was very good, cheap, and they gave you alot of food.

Historic center was vibrant and scenic.
Historic center was vibrant and scenic. Enjoyed visiting the Basilica as well as the magnificent Church of the Franciscans and the colorful architecture and plazas. Enjoyed the chocolate tasting at Mundo, delicious traditional Andean cuisine at Runa Tulpa Andina and excellent continental cuisine at La Vid in the Archbishop's Palace. There was 360 degree view of city from the Statue of the Virgin Panecillo at top of Quito. A major highlight was the tour of the Capilla del Hombre and the home of the artist, Oswaldo Guayasamin.

Due to current political issues in Ecuador, we were a little apprehensive about making the trip. However, only minutes after we landed in Quito we fell in love. The airport is amazingly clean and has all the amenities you would want. Quito, the La Carolina area, was extremely clean and very secure. The shopping was fantastic and there were tons of restaurants to choose from. All that said, we were most surprised by how reasonably priced everything was.
Also, a lot of bars do not take credit cards. Ecuador uses the American dollar, so have some on hand so you don't have an awkward experience.
We would definitely make the trip again.
The hotel is super nice. Room is big and very clean. The walls are thick, so it is quiet in the room, which is usually not the case in any other hotel in Ecuador. The WIFI is super fast.
The 3 guys at the reception are very helpful and they treat you like family. Plus they speak English, too.
I definitely recommend this hotel.
It was the best stay in Ecuador! The property is cozy and special thanks to Blanca and Mario for being the best hosts one could imagine!

We loved this hotel! It is so much more than just an accomodation! The staff is amazing, you learn a lot about the culture in Ecuador and also a dinner is more like an experience than just food! I would recommened everyone staying in Quito to stay here! :)
