it dominates the city and the sky line Kölne is so compact and a circular city that all roads will take you towards the Cathedral.
Just look up head towards it and from there easily find your way back to your hotel. this seems to be the norm for all Kölne visitors.

Our first view of it was late at night as we exited Hbf, it towered over Domplatte and its black colouring helped it hide in the night. Very impressive! When going up the tower (accessed from outside the main building, via modern steps leading down towards toilets and car-park) note the Roman remains, they were an unexpected surprise.

From the outside, this cathedral looks magnificent. Unfortunately we were unable to walk around inside as two officials and a red rope prevented the public from gaining access. Not very tourist friendly!

Such a beautiful church.
Such a beautiful church. But staff in the entrance is not very welcome .and friendly. As catholic we went for a mass as usual and staff stop us because probably tourist not go to mass. In the end we could participate . Very disapointent .

The outstanding landmark of the city, which I first saw in 1954 as a member of D.J.H. (Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk). The building with its 500 foot spires remained splendin, and largely intact, while the surrounding area had been flattened.

I love the location of this hotel, a short walk from the central train station and local landmarks (such as the Cologne cathedral). Besides the location, the reason I always return to this hotel is because the staff are always really friendly and helpful.
The hotel staff were extremely patient and helpful. Room size was perfect, Breakfast was great and location is perfect. Just 2-3 mins walk to the nearest tram station, 13 mins walk to Cologne Cathedral.
The hotel was very accessible to train station and also cologne cathedral,comfy,and clean,staffs are very nice and accomodating.A good value for your money.
I stayed for 5 nights during a business trip, and it was an excellent experience. The hotel was very clean, and the location was perfect. It was close to the Christmas market, shopping streets, and Cologne Cathedral, making it very convenient to explore the area. The staff were friendly and always willing to help, which made my stay even more comfortable.
Great option as for a hostel. We had our own shower. It was possible to leave luggege in a locker on checkout day.

The staff were very helpful. The room was very clean and tidy. The location is great; Cologne main station is only a 10 minute walk away. There are lots of things to see close by (within 20-30 minute walk max.)- Cologne Cathedral and many other churches, Museums, big shopping area etc.
The pool at the hotel was also a nice bonus.
The hotel is in a great location, very close to the train station and just 15 minutes away from cologne cathedral, perfect if like us you want something close to the Christmas markets which won’t break the budget.
The breakfast was great, a nice spread of cold breakfasts with good coffee machine. Staff friendly.

Cologne cathedral is stunning by its height, the carvings and sculptures that cover the whole building. Once inside, one is also impressed by its size and some of its windows. The reliquary of the three Magi is also kept there. It is unfortunate that the outside of such a world renowned cathedral has still not been clean and the building looms black over the town.

Visit Cologne Cathedral and the twelve superb Romanesque churches in the town as well as the Museum Ludwig, one of the finest Art Galleries we have visited. Also recommended is a trip to Aachen (Aix-la-Chapelle) to see Charlemagne's amazing chapel and his famous throne (an hour by train).
