Salamanca Market
A Hobart favorite on Saturday mornings – just down the road from Princes Wharf, Salamanca Market fits right in to its historic setting. Against the backdrop of honey-colored sandstone houses from the 19th century, a wide range of stands line the main drag. Their wares include an array of Tasmanian goods, from handmade clothing, funky ponchos, and vintage collectibles to potted plants, flowers, and ceramics – all before you even get to the artisan food!

A wonderful market - a wide range of stalls including a wide variety of food stalls, we spent 4 hours there.
The 2 best points at Salamanca:
the entire market is a smoke free zone - even though it is open air, and,
it's a no-dogs zone, so no dog-leads to get tangled around your legs.

Compared to my visit 20 years ago - it was more ‘artisan’ work to see then - and different to other places.
Now far too packed with food stalls, & same type of stalls to be found in any large market anywhere. Hard to find the real artisans of Hobart & Tasmania.
I am from NSW and brought my cousin on this 3 week trip. Salamanca was to be a must see, but would have been better spending the day travelling further down the coast.
The uniqueness of Salamanca has been lost — sadly.

Over rated and over priced.
Over rated and over priced. Better bargain options and prices at Vinnies, Salvos, Buy4 less, at Glenorchy and CBD outlets. You are really paying for the vibe, and seeing some 2,000 people aged 40-90 come out at the same time.

If you have been to other big markets in Queensland you may find the Salmanca markets small. The fact that most people raved about these markets of course you make the effort and go. Apart from food and drink stalls I didn't find a lot of other types of stalls there.

Be ready to walk a bit. Some up hill sections that can be a little challenginmg if your unsteady or need to use a walking stick. Watch the cobble stone pavers and deceptive level changes of the side walks.

I particularly love the boutique gin, whisky and vodka distilleries at Salamanca Market. You can sample so many things in one morning, you'll definitely keep warm!!
Woodworking and photography are two other types of stallholders well-represented, as well as sensational confectionery and baked goods vendors.
You can also always find a breathtakingly gorgeous bunch of flowers straight from the growers themselves.

The hotel staff / owners were very accommodating about check-in and the space was comfortable, quiet, and clean. The location is in a quiet and interesting part of Hobart, a 15-minute walk to the Salamanca market and ferry buildings, with amazing views of the water. If you have a lot of heavy suitcases I recommend using a car to get them to the hotel, but otherwise it's quite easy (and pretty) to walk.
The hotel was located right on the waterftont, clise to parking spots, the harbour / river tours, bus tour stop, Salamanca market and more. Our breakfasts were always spot on. Great bar / pub aldo, do no need to try anywhere else.
The Location was amazing with water views of the Constitution Dock and very convenient to amenities. Very near to nice pubs and restaurants e.g. Mures Seafood restaurant was less than 10 minutes walk away. Also easy to walk to Salamanca market and Mona Ferry within 10 minutes. The Apartment was nice clean and spacious with kitchenette, medium fridge, microwave, small table for dining and small table for working if required. There is also a laundry with washing machine and dryer, if you need to wash and dry your clothes.
The location is the most important one near shops, pubs and you can easily walk to Salamanca markets and dock. Rooms were functional and clean. If your staying more than 2 nights you get a complimentary housekeeping otherwise you have to pay for it. Local market every Sunday in front of the hotel.
Got a complimentary Wine and chocolates from the manager with an issue I have on my 2nd day.
Thank you for the quick reply and for clarifying the issue.
Location was awesome, right on Salamanca market, walking distance to the city and wharf area, a short 2 minute walk to Salamanca market. I had a 1 bed apartment with everything I could need for a stay there.
The location was great for our reason for being there. The hotel is half a block from Salamanca Street with lots of shops ,restaurants and grocery store. The Salamanca Market on Saturday is amazing. We loved being able to walk along the wharf and shop and dine so close to the hotel. The staff was very helpful answering all our questions and the hotel restaurant was also very good.
The place is in excellent location, close to Salamanca Market, good restaurants and bars. The apartment was clean and adequately equipped. It offers free parking and housekeeping.
We would stay there again.
Our apartment had all that was needed for our 3 nights in Hobart. Walking distance to great restaurants, cafes, lovely walks, Salamanca markets & catching boat to Mona. Free Car parking outside. Serviced daily, washing machine and dryer if needed, good wifi and it was quiet.
The rooms were very clean and our rooms had a laundry set up which was appreciated. The location was an easy walk to food and tourist options, as well as a supermarket. Very easy walk to Salamanca Market and the tourist centre etc. The airport express bus stop was directly outside the hotel which was convenient. The price was significantly lower than others in the same area.
The apartment was well-appointed and very comfortable. The staff friendly and accommodating. The location afforded an easy walk to the Salamanca Market. We had a wonderful stay!
