Always had hot water, which was great. The people working here are super friendly and just make the place feel homey. The breakfast was my favorite part - so good and homemade. It’s honestly the best breakfast I had in Sri Lanka. The place is a short walk from the center which is nice, you get peace and quiet but can easily get to the busier spots. Would definitely recommend this place if you're staying in Ella It’s a chill place to stay with good folks running it.

We were treated like extra special house guests from the moment we were collected from Ella station to when Salinga drove us 4 hours to our next destination in Mirissa. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and on the second night we were offered the chance to eat home made rice and curry. The room is spacious albeit basic (no toiletries, but provided when we said we hadn't bought any with us). But it is comfortable and provides everything you need. What is the stand out is the outside space, the verandah overlooking the mountains and waterfall. Sitting there for breakfast and dinner watching the abundant wildlife, so beautiful. We even woke up early to witness the sunrise from the roof of the property. During our stay Salinga recommended a Tuk Tuk driver who was constantly available if we needed to be taken to the town, or for a day's sightseeing in the area. Although Wood Heart is set on the side of the mountain (there are many steps down/up to the property, so beware if you aren't too mobile) it is still possible to walk to and from the town in about 10 minutes along the railway line, an experience in itself. As I said the family went out of their way to make you feel welcome and we're the ultimate hosts. Salinga even arranged for someone to take us from our hotel in Mirissa to Colombo airport with a sightseeing stop in Galle. Wood Heart is like an oasis of calm in paradise. Try and visit if you can, they are currently extending the property upwards to provide 2 extra rooms, perfect for extended families or a group of friends.

Mountain nest was the most wonderful place to stay! Our favourite so far in Sri Lanka. We booked for 1 night and ended up staying 4. The room was immaculately clean and it was close to the Main Street but out the way so it’s really peaceful. The lady who runs it is very friendly and even brought us tea and biscuits when we arrived! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay ❤️

The views are really fab from the inn. The bed is big and comfortable and we slept well during our stay. The breakfast they provide is delicious and very generous. Most of all, the staff are so welcoming, kind, and thoughtful. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend staying here, especially for their hospitality.
