Super friendly family that is running this guest house. I felt very welcomed and comfortable. They also run a café with super delicious food, that is mainly prepared using their kiln.

Not only was the house super comfortable and clean, but the hosts were amazing people. From the moment I got through the door until a week later when I left I felt nothing but care and friendliness from the hosts. I took the surfing lessons with them the first day, which was definitely a must if you’re beginning. It was an unforgettable time, and I will definitely be coming back again.

Excellent service staff, attentive to details, location is superb, shabu dinner was very good quality and value for money.

The photos on booking.com don't do this place justice. The house is super clean and the bathroom looks brand new. Very warm and homely feeling. The staff was so polite and helpful. She even gave us a house tour and was smiling all the time. She even called a nearby restaurant to help us make a booking for dinner. Very good value for money.

Awesome location, direct access to a walking track to the Gorge. The accommodations were clean, airy and spacious. It was simply perfect and such good value for money. The restaurant next door was perfect for dinner too.

Excellent private villa, wonderful dinner

It’s not a hotel. It’s a guest house so be prepared. It’s nice and cosy with a very nice view of the sea from the room. Very interesting experience for me this trip (while sitting in the stairs) 😅

The dinner was simple and good. We had Pork shabu... and a small buffet breakfast that was good.. a mix of western and japanese.. So its good to book with dinner and breakfast. Hotel is just 2mins walk away from a big drug store that sells everything... .glad I chose this hotel.. as i only needed a place to rest and stopover for my long driving trip from west to east of kyushu.

We came to Takachiho to visit the famous gorge and when looking at accommodation, there were little around. Ryokan Shinsen was definitely more on the pricer side, however having stayed the 2 nights, I would be more than keen to stay here again. The facilities and rooms were immaculate. The service was excellent, very attentive. Breakfast and dinner were included in the stay and it's definitely an experience. There is plenty of parking if you're planning on driving and close to tourist attractions.
