Set within 7.6 km of Filipino Market Sabah and 3.3 km of North Borneo Railway, 5 Minutes Airport Lodge provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Kampong Patagas. The staff were really helpful, even offered to help me book my taxi at 2am if I struggled but luckily it was easy enough to find a grab car to get to the airport! The room was exactly as expected, basic but comfortable and clean. And the hotel was an easy 15 minute walk from the airport, just across the highway - there is a walking bridge, which I did during the day.

Located in Kota Kinabalu and within 10 km of Filipino Market Sabah, SPA Shalom Suites features a garden, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi. The room was tastefully decorated, the bed was really comfortable, the facilities were amazing (water filter, kettle, tea and coffee). I liked how I was able to control the lighting in the room and there was also a desk.

The Seraya Hotel is situated in Kota Kinabalu, within 3.5 km of Sabah State Museum & Heritage Village and 5.1 km of Likas City Mosque. Definitely the location, given its proximity to Suria Mall

Offering free WiFi, a sun terrace with a swimming pool, garden and shared lounge, Chan Living is set in Semporna. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. Great apartments in U shape position, with nice surrounding garden and pool in the middle. Located 3km outside busy and noisy Semporna, so it was great decision about location and staying outside of the city. They provide mini van charter to/from the city (fixed morning times - matching daily island trips departures, but stuff was always willing to help on outside hours if someone needed transportation). You can use Grab (8-10RM one way) if you need to go to the city on your own. Rooms were big and clean, big and comfortable beds, provided with AC, towels, tea, water every day, a lot of space for storage. Staff was very friendly and always available, english is also well spoken. Breakfast is included, more Asian than continental type but eggs, toast, jam, fruit was always available (they were willing to prepare something extra if we would have requested - we didn’t). There is also a common area to hang out in the evening, some guests ordered in dinners (or were even aloud to use kitchen facilities), soft drinks, beer, ice cream available from the bar.

Situated in Semporna, Ozzy Lodge Semporna features free WiFi throughout the property. All rooms in the inn are fitted with a flat-screen TV. Excellent value for money . Very clean. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Cute “house “ cats.
