In the Cambridgeshire village of Buckden, this Inn dates back to 1492 and is full of original features. The bar and restaurant have open fires, wooden beams and seasonal food. If you would like to stay in a traditional, cosy pub near Cambridge, this is the place. The house dates back to the 15th century and is now lovingly run by a young family. The rooms are comfortable and the food, especially the English breakfast, is also very good. A much better alternative to an expensive, modern hotel in the city. You can park right outside the door.

With a thatched roof and white stone walls, The Old Ferry Boat is considered England’s oldest inn. Overlooking the Great Ouse River, the rooms are tastefully furnished and have free Wi-Fi. This is a gem and a beautiful location, with good food. Breakfast inclused in the stay, again good value.
