Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
The hotel is actually a converted rooming area for the Shaker community. It is very rustic, but has all the amenities which one would expect of a hotel room. They also have a nice gift shop and restaurant.
It was a very enjoyable experience staying one night at the Shaker Village as part of a larger road trip around Kentucky .
The tour guide was knowledgable and enthusiastic. The food in the restauarant was excellent with a good choice for both breakfast and dinner.
Shaker Village is a tranquil, beautiful pastoral setting. My teenage son and I were in the area for college visits, and he was skeptical at first. But after an evening watching baby lambs scamper followed by a delicious dinner, he was sold. The Shakers were right — tis a gift to be simple.
Absolutely enchanting destination. Reception was friendly and thorough and helped us get the lay of the land quickly despite our late arrival. We enjoyed an exceptional dinner at the on site restaurant, and the next morning, learned about the biodynamic farming practices and met the ducks and turkeys before we enjoyed a delicious breakfast a the restaurant. This is a wonderful destination in winter; I can only imagine how much fun it would be during the warmer months!
The buildings were immaculately maintained and to sleep in one of the restored rooms were fun. You can walk along the Main Street and just imagine yourself transported in time. The dinner at the Trustees Inn was fabulous. My pork chops were perfectly prepared as was my wife’s salmon. A very pleasant experience. If you love history this is a must stop.
Dinner and breakfast was delicious! The room was clean and comfortable.
