Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening, which distinguishes them from country or guest houses.
The English Inn is as advertised. It is an older hotel, but the location is convenient to UVA and Barracks Road, which was the reason I was there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay again.
Cleanliness is my main requirement. Very satisfied. The renovations improved things. Fresh coffee early before kitchen is open is appreciated as a early riser. I enjoy the lobby. Nice to have that as a place to read, have a meal or chat with friends. I used to stay at the Hampton but after a cleanliness issue as well as increasing cost, English Inn has been my home away from home☺️
This beautiful old home is centrally located in lovely Charlottesville. We enjoyed the wine and cheese before we headed out for dinner. The home cooked goodies for breakfast were delicious. Our room, full of antique furniture had all modern conveniences.
The location across from Michies Tavern was spectacular. The amenities, including laundry, were wonderful. It was quiet and gave you the feeling of being in the country, not right outside Charlottesville.
Thank you for a lovely visit. I enjoyed walking distance to shops and restaurants. The INN (bed and breakfast) is historic and lovely.
Look forward to a return visit
It was very clean. The breakfast was very good, but the attendant had a hard time keeping food stocked. At one point they were out of coffee and cinnamon rolls. The location was great! It was not far from Monticello nor downtown Charlottesville. We easily got back on the main road to continue our travels.
I’ve always liked the Hampton Inn, the rooms are clean and very comfortable. Not as spacious as others I’ve stayed in elsewhere. The staff courteous, friendly and helpful. This feels almost like home.
Lovely old inn within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Nice to have homemade cookies available. Nice free evening wine and cheese selection. Good continental breakfast. Very happy with our room. Comfortable bed. Would return if in the area again.
This bed and breakfast is 2 blocks from the “Main Street “. We could just was walk to dinner every night.
They had wine and cheese on the front porch every evening and the continental breakfast with lots of tasty breads and goodies.
This inn was so close to Monticello and other presidents’ homes… making a great”home base” for history buffs.
P.s. the Mickie 1784 Tavern was an expensive tourist trap 🙁
