Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening, which distinguishes them from country or guest houses.
The location across from Michies Tavern was spectacular. The amenities, including laundry, were wonderful. It was quiet and gave you the feeling of being in the country, not right outside Charlottesville.
Thank you for a lovely visit. I enjoyed walking distance to shops and restaurants. The INN (bed and breakfast) is historic and lovely.
Look forward to a return visit
It was very clean. The breakfast was very good, but the attendant had a hard time keeping food stocked. At one point they were out of coffee and cinnamon rolls. The location was great! It was not far from Monticello nor downtown Charlottesville. We easily got back on the main road to continue our travels.
I’ve always liked the Hampton Inn, the rooms are clean and very comfortable. Not as spacious as others I’ve stayed in elsewhere. The staff courteous, friendly and helpful. This feels almost like home.
Lovely old inn within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Nice to have homemade cookies available. Nice free evening wine and cheese selection. Good continental breakfast. Very happy with our room. Comfortable bed. Would return if in the area again.
Our stay at the English Inn was absolutely delightful. The room was spacious and clean, cookies and tea in the afternoon, chilled water and fresh coffee 24/7, attractive lobby and seating area - and then there was the full southern breakfast - absolutely wonderful. Great check in experience.
This bed and breakfast is 2 blocks from the “Main Street “. We could just was walk to dinner every night.
They had wine and cheese on the front porch every evening and the continental breakfast with lots of tasty breads and goodies.
This inn was so close to Monticello and other presidents’ homes… making a great”home base” for history buffs.
P.s. the Mickie 1784 Tavern was an expensive tourist trap 🙁
Hotel looked modern, was clean and functional. The rooms were large with good working AC, comfortable beds and decent shower. The breakfast was fantastic and coffee was actually decent. I think it was my next favorite breakfast after an Embassy Suites, which is obviously on another level. However, compared to a Hampton Inn or HI Express, this breakfast was much better. Parking was no problem. Overall, we had a comfortable stay.
We had a great welcome to a beautiful facility with excellent staff, well appointed rooms and great grounds. I started my morning with a walk through the grounds listening to birds and enjoying Virginia in the Spring. Beds were comfy, room was gorgeous and we had dinner in the hotel which was very delicious.
The English Inn is great value hotel. Located just off Rt. 29, but far enough that I did not hear much traffic noise, and conveniently situated right behind Bodo's Bagels. My room was clean with a comfortable bed and pillows.
