I booked the George Inn at 7pm on a Sunday evening of a BH weekend after getting rained off from my camping. The place was still busy with the Sunday lunch crowd and clearly the host couple had been flat out busy all day. Nevertheless they were both absolutely charming and quickly showed me a lovely comfortable room and got me a meal and a pint followed by some excellent home made Victoria sponge. Before long I was co-opted onto one of the pub quizz teams and had a great evening in front of the toasty open fire with my new friends. Lovely people who run a great little Inn.

Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
The rooms are lovely and spacious and very clean,
Comfortable bed and the stuff was friendly and very helpful, breakfast is lovely and fresh and so was dinner.
What a delight to relax in the beer garden after an unusual hot weather! Delicious dinner and breakfast, very friendly staff and typical English country pub.
This was a last minute stay. I was pleasantly welcomed by the owners on arrival, we instantly broke into conversation and the rest was just a pleasure. As a lone traveller I would recommend this very warm, friendly and historic Inn for any traveller who is looking for wholesome food. With a great menu selection.
This gem of a Place is well worth a visit.
I travel a lot around the country and so far this really hit the mark, I was very happy all round.
Really lovely 600 year old building right next to the cathedral. We were in a room overlooking the street but surprisingly it was silent at night. We had breakfast with a view of the cathedral and the member of staff couldn't have been more helpful especially with my gluten free requirements. We didn't have dinner at the hotel but clearly the restaurant was very popular as it looked full on a Thursday evening. There are several old historic inns in the town but the Ancient Gatehouse was special.
This was a last-minute booking for one night, so I didn't have any particular expectations. The White Hart Inn was a lovely place to stay! The room was comfortable, clean, and welcoming with nice rustic touches. There was a kettle with teas and biscuits which was much appreciated! The bed was large and I slept well. The Inn is located in the centre of Wells which was perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would happily stay here again!
