The Waterford Arms, hotel in Tynemouth

Set in Hartley and with Whitley Bay reachable within 2.8 km, The Waterford Arms offers a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

All of the staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. I had a good quality evening meal and the breakfast was exceptional. The room was clean and comfortable, great bed, great shower. I had a very good sleep and a great view of the North East coastline thrown in for free! Overall my stay way exceeded my expectations, initially I booked because the location suited my specific visit and the price was very good, within the band I consider budget. What I found was a very enjoyable stay with everything I would expect in a place that I had paid 30% more for so value for money was outstanding.

Bowes Incline Hotel, hotel in Tynemouth

Ten miles from Newcastle, The Bowes Incline Hotel offers en suite rooms and a 100-seat restaurant. Rooms are well equipped with TV, free Wi-Fi and coffee and tea-making facilities.

Everything about the stay. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The restaurant has a lovely, relaxing atmosphere and the late afternoon food we had was delicious. The room was clean with tea and coffee facilities. The bed was very comfortable. Even though it is close to the A1, with the triple glazing (I assume), no traffic noise filtered through. There was a good selection for breakfast, we had a full English which was very nice. Would definitely recommend.

The whole Tynmouth Castle Inn experience was fabulous. Staff were attentive and focussed. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent. We had 2 dogs with us, and it was perfect. A ground floor room with a terrace... just awesome.

We stayed for two nights. This is a large house turned into a guest house, with some ensuite rooms and some with a shared bathroom. The house is lovely, stylish and well kept. Our room was small, but exactly as described. The large smart TV was a nice touch for before bed. Sea view was lovely. The host was really friendly and accommodating. The thing that surprised me the most was the value for money - other places for this price (sometimes more) did not look as good, and this location is premium!

Location, the newness, spacious bedrooms, friendly and very helpful staff. Great emphasis has been placed on the Bar, (hence called an Inn I suppose) which doubles as the restaurant. The Bar is extensive, beautifully appointed, I like the different sitting options, many of which offer a degree of privacy, the bar area is impressive and I expect will attract a lot of locals rather in-house guests. The views from the Inn are delightful. My bedroom was large, of course newly furnished, comfortable, with a very nice shower/bathroom.
