One of the most comfortable beds we have had in our travels. The weekday price was quite good. The food in the restaurant was good, and the service as well. We liked the location between Bath and Tetbury, and it was a perfect place to stop during our journey through the Cotswolds. There was a kettle for tea and coffee, and bottles of water were also supplied. It was surprisingly quiet for being above a restaurant. We stayed on a Thursday night.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
Experiencing what I perceive as the quintessential British Pub/Inn. Nice room, good food, nice bar with lots of locals and a nice outside sitting area. Great staff.
This property offers spacious and supremely comfortable rooms in the genuine historic setting of a Castle once owned by Henry VIII. Although reproduction Tudor furniture is not to all tastes, it adds to the lavish surroundings.
The gardens and grounds were beautifully maintained. The food and service excellent. Our dinner and breakfast were superb.
Absolutely stunning. Without doubt we felt like royalty staying at this incredible castle. We received a free upgrade to the King James V suite which was quite breathtaking and the most incredible bathroom we've ever used. Wonderful comfy four post king size bed with so many little touches to make our stay feel special. The grounds and castle were spectacular and luxurious. Beautiful dinner in the restaurant and we took a tour and learned of Thornbury's history with Tony which brought it all together.
For those of you who want to live in a real castle, this is your chance! This was truly a life experience to stay here for two nights. The castle is incredible and the staff treat you like royalty. One afternoon I had a massage and afternoon tea in the garden. We loved our dinners there, exquisite cuisine. We went to evensong at the parish church - lovely music and friendly people.
Everything was exceptional. The staff were amazing and very helpful. The service was impeccable. The dinner was of a very high standard and breakfast was great. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Beautiful products in the bathroom. The little decanter of gin and biscuits were a treat as well as a good range of refreshments. The buildings and gardens are delightful. We will definitely be back next time we visit the UK. Can’t thank you all enough for a wonderful stay.
Lovely room. Clear instructions sent before arrival. Good dinner in the garden watching the petanque games. I thoroughly recommend the Anchor to anyone.
Fabulous stay, let down only by the breakfast to be honest. The room and the stay, the grounds, the tour, the staff - all perfect. We didn't eat dinner, we ate in the Town.
Our one stay exceeded our expectations. The hotel setting was fantastic and both the dinner and breakfast were of a very high quality. Above all else, every member of staff that we met were extremely helpful and very welcoming. A great trip, which I would definitely recommend to others.
