This is the third time we’ve spent a weekend at the Bull. It used to be really good but sadly it’s slipped to being just okay and I don’t expect to go back.

The rooms are lovely and updated. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a ground floor room so my mother didn’t have to walk up the stairs. The food in the restaurant was great as well.
With a great location just 0.6 mi from the A34 and 0.9 mi from Newbury town center, the hotel has been refurbished to reflect its 17th-century heritage.

Everything, the room was so comfortable and spacious, the pillows comfortable, so clean and it was detached from the main building to the rear so it was also quiet. The breakfast was the best we've ever enjoyed, real quality with adequate portions. The staff were very friendly, helpful and engaging. We will definitely stay again and again.
The Carnarvon Arms is a country inn, located next door to Highclere Castle, on the route of The Wayfarers Walk.

Staff was amazing!!! We loved it hear and everyone was nice and accommodating to our baby. Great pub!!
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
It was beautiful; lots of quirky pieces of furniture and things on the walls, all ‘Bull’ related obviously. We didn’t eat a full dinner, just a drink and a snack but the food being served in the restaurant looked great. Nice little play area and field for children to play in
All the staff were really helpful and friendly and the food was lovely - both at breakfast and for lunch on arrival day. We liked the decor in the pub and rustic feel of the bedrooms.
The food was delicious and far better than the usual pub grub. The service was pleasant and attentive. Every request was answered quickly and well. I really enjoyed the scampi and skinny chips.
Second stay at the bull and just as wonderful tbh.
Added bonus that the sun was out so could enjoy an outside drink or two at last.
Burger for dinner and wowsa, as predicted, wonderful!!
Staff were genuinely wonderful as before and nothing was an issue.
It's just a lovely place!
Enjoy the garden too!

The location was great and I liked the 'pub with rooms' style. The food was delicious and great value with a set three course dinner meal available. The bed was super comfy and the room was clean.
Really beautiful accommodation. Perfect beds. Great free parking. Rooms were large and very nice. Breakfast very good. Unfortunately we didn't have dinner, the kitchen wasn't open that day.
Good value modern accomodation attached to an old inn with lots of outside space in a lovely village you would not find by chance. Despite the latter their good restaurant was busy and we had an enjoyable 3 course meal for £20 (Tues and Thu evenings and ? Friday lunch). Would make a lovely short break and there is another nice pub doing food a 5 minute walk away if you fancy a change..
We stayed on a Monday when the inn was closed so understood that food was not available. Working around was not a problem. Overall a nice location with well presented accommodation. Marko was particularly helpful. Will use again.
Very pleasant room. Nice little field to exercise the dogs. Good food at the sister pub The Bladebone as there was a power cut to the Bull Inn when we arrived. Breakfast at The Bull Inn was lovely too. Lovely staff, efficient, friendly and very helpful, especially Sophie!
