The Castle Inn, hotel in Shrewsbury

Now under new management with onsite restaurant and bar open wednesday to Sunday serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please see menus in photo's.

I stayed here two years ago for £85. It's been closed a while and I expected a refurbishment but it was just the same as it had been two years ago. Scruffy and rundown. This time it cost £135! The staff were lovely and very helpful I was offered breakfast but went down the next day to be told it was closed. Reception was also closed so I went in the rear entrance of the kitchen to hand my keys in.

Breakfast very good, lots of choice and the staff were a well oiled machine. I needed quiet and the service was very friendly throughout and surroundings peaceful. Dinner was also very good, no bells and whistles but well presented and very tasty.

Anton Guest House has the most comprehensive breakfast menu we have yet come across, all of which were delicious. The hosts were lovely, there was a smart TV and the attention to detail was superb - we were offered home made cake on our arrival.

Superb room with really comfortable bed and fan due to the hot weather . The standard room was cozy but perfect.Everything you could’ve wanted was provided. Lovely Occitane toiletries in the bathroom We requested fresh milk for tea and they gave us delicious flapjacks too! Dinner was delicious and the staff delightful. We couldn’t fault anything We will definitely return if in the area. Its well worth a visit to Attingham Park opposite, a NT stately home.

location excellent, hotel very clean and staff very helpful and attentive. bed very comfortable and food at dinner outstanding. The staff are seeking to run a high quality hotel with a high standard of service with a traditional feel to it Others have mentioned noise; my room was on the side overlooking the beer garden of The Bull next door but the music and noise curfew was strictly enforced by the staff there so noise was not an issue for me.

From the moment we walked in, we felt like welcomed friends. Robin and Louise are excellent and kind innkeepers! We loved the house, the grounds, our comfy bed and bathroom! Robin and Louise offered us a lovely breakfast each morning, and accommodated us on our last day with an early departure.

Great location and generous breakfast cooked very well. Rustic olde english inn with very many feature/period pieces and architecture. Great history (but had to read council sign outside to learn this) and easy (albeit up hill) walk to town centre/square, shops, bars restaurants etc. Do visit the exceptional cheese shop next the the museum!
