Friendly reception every time I appeared , on arrival , for dinner , for breakfast, a family feel to the place which is an antidote to the soulless corporate chains.

Amazing breakfast made by the hostess Janet! She had been so warm and friendly to me throughout my stay. I highly recommend staying here for a quick English getaway especially if you are visiting the nearby Shere and the quaint surrounding Surrey forests. Great stay. I used to live in Esher when I was young and poor and I always dreamed of staying at the Bear. The room I had was not quite as nice as the website pictures, but it will still nice.

It was lovely peaceful, very relaxing and comfortable. Our meal was delicious and the service was excellent. We will stay there again, and recommend to our friends.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
Breakfast and dinner were both of a very high standard. Parts of the hotel date to the 16th century and our bedroom was quirky but large and well appointed. the bed was very comfortable. The setting requires street parking on rural roads, but this did not present a problem. There are many local country walks.
The welcome from the staff was amazing the room was beautiful with lots of fresh air and natural light with gorgeous furnishings. Dinner was wonderful and the breaksfast was great too.

Lovely experience in a real inn dating back the 17th century, so well refurbished. The breakfast was the best we had during our trip! The easy walking access to the Surrey downs was unique.
It has character and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I had a lovely dinner in the restaurant too. I can’t complain too much for what I paid.
Lovely rustic shabby chic historic inn, located in a picturesque village looking up at the North Downs.
Staff very enthusiastic, attentive and helpful.
The restaurant was excellent and the chef's innovative and original dishes were worth the trip. Make sure you dine there, although you might want to avoid some of the noisier tables with happy diners having a fun time.
Room was large and comfortable with view of the church and the bus stop for Staines.
