The Exmoor Forest Inn, hotel in Martinhoe

Situated in the heart of Exmoor National Park, The Exmoor Forest Inn boasts a restaurant and a cozy bar. It is in the village of Simonsbath and features free Wi-Fi throughout and free private parking....

The Exmoor Forest staff were superb; well trained but relaxed, they were attentive and friendly. The food was exceptional, probably the best roast dinner I have ever had and we ate on a Sunday evening after a busy lunch service, often the time when the quality flags but not here. The vegetables were a real feature and cooked to perfection. Similarly, breakfast of fantastic smoked trout and scrambled egg complemented with homemade sourdough that had a real lightness of touch to it - not something easily achieved. The welcoming wood burners were a real treat on an exceptionally wet early September evening and really cheered everyone arriving damp from the moor.

We have stayed at Hunters Inn many times and never disappoints.Food and staff were excellent and will be returning as always.Holds a special place in our hearts as we stayed at Mill Ham cottage for our honeymoon 27 years ago ,within walking distance of Hunters Inn and visited several times, returning also with our children for the walk to Heddon's Mouth. The location is so beautiful. It is tucked in a valley with beautiful walks and access to a lovely cove to swim in. If you are looking for a fantastic secluded countryside location then this is it. The gardens around the inn were well maintained, child and dog friendly. The bedrooms were spacious with storage and lovely en-suite bathrooms. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Superb breakfast in the Inn next to our lodge. Great lunches too, and superb dinners. The location of Hunters Inn is really gorgeous, in a valley that leads to the bay. The Hunters Lodge is a self contained accommodation with a little bridge and veranda. Nicely decorated and furnished. Lovely garden view from the lounge window. Couldn't improve on it.

Fabulous location. We were walking SW Coast Path and the Hunter's Inn is a perfect spot for a stopover. Entering the valley when it's located you're completely surrounded by wilderness. If you looking for peace & quiet, don't look further.

The breakfast was lovely, perfectly cooked eggs and breakfast meats. I chose Hunters Inn as it was an ideal location near the Sw Coast Path. What I found was beyond my imagination. My room was beautiful with views of the garden , and a fabulous claw foot tub. Perfect after a long walk. And the staff were friendly and skilled.
