Dinner & breakfast food was well cooked as requested. We were seated in the bar area, which was devoid of other customers and felt quite chilly. An electric coal fire was present, but it was unclear if it was operational. The room, an extension to the traditional thatched pub advertised, lacked ambiance and did not feature the low ceilings that would have complemented the original structure. The decor and carpets appeared worn and seemed overdue for an update.
With a thatched roof and white stone walls, The Old Ferry Boat is considered England’s oldest inn. Overlooking the Great Ouse River, the rooms are tastefully furnished and have free Wi-Fi.

The woolpack is in a lovely setting. The room was excellent with all the facilities you could need. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast we had was really good. We opened our room window to a field with some very friendly ponies in which was lovely. The only thing we struggled with was our mattress which we felt was quite lumpy and not very comfortable. However we the other family members who we were with all slept really well so may be we were just unlucky.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening, which distinguishes them from country or guest houses.
Staff very helpful and friendly could do enough to make ones stay pleasant. Typical medieval building/inn nothing level but that is what you expect from a very old building. Decor was good and all clean. had a Four poster bed and a really large bath with shower. tea and coffee in the room and tv. Breakfast, I had continental, cereal, juice tea or coffee fresh fruit and toast. All good for me. One could have a cooked breakfast if required.
Staff were absolutely exceptional and really went the extra mile to make sure our needs were met. Decor was lovely and blended the historic elements with modern comforts very well. Meals (dinner and breakfast) were lovely.
The George is a beautiful hotel. Fitted out to a high standard we had an elegant room with some lovely touches, nice artwork and a proper coffee machine. The restaurant and bar area are superb as was our dinner.
Very historic old (1492!) coaching inn in the middle of the pleasant village of Buckden. Next door to history-rich Buckden Tower. Pub area is quaint and it's nice to mingle with locals. Easy parking both in hotel lot and on street outside. Affordable rates. Owners were very welcoming and friendly.
Bed Very Clean and Very Comfy. Bathroom Spotless. Over bath shower cramped but water supply good and hot. Towels clean. Dinner and breakfast good. Host and Hostess very pleasant.
Our room and bathroom was a bit old fashioned but that didn't matter, it had all of the facilities that we have come to expect & the bed was very comfortable. The evening dinner was really tasty, we enjoyed the chicken curry very much. And the full English breakfast was great it had the lot. Our hosts were great nothing was too much trouble.
Charming 15th century coaching inn which has lost none of it's charm.
Perfect for a nightstop as so close to the A1.
Very friendly and welcoming staff.
A great pint of beer and probably the best breakfast I've had cooked for me in a long time.
