The people at Barcelos were great, very friendly and wanted to help. They provided us with names of 4x4 guides, helped with things to see and visit and where to eat. The property is in a great location with walkable restaurants and supermarket. The area was very safe and they have a secure lot to park cars. The city center has a few restaurants which a is longer walk but we decided to drive. The pousada was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and the sauna after our days hiking! Barcelo’s is right near the entrance to Serra Cananstra park and near cheese farms to visit. For breakfast they offerred great local Canastra cheeses, fruits, yogurts, cereal, eggs and these excellent grilled cheese breads, yum!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Pousada Caminho da Serra in São Roque de Minas for three nights, and it was a delightful experience. In a serene location, the pousada is well situated close to the national park, making it a perfect base for exploring the natural beauty of the area.

The ambiance is one of its most charming aspects. It's quite silent, allowing for a restful environment. Despite its simplicity, the place exudes a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making it feel like a home away from home. The staff's attention to detail and warm hospitality added to the overall comfort of my stay.

small family owned place, just outside the town and along the road to the national park. the place is simple but very pleasant, wi fi is excellent, a nice common room which leads to all the 6 or so suites. All in all a great place to stay, with an excellent breakfast. the ceiling fan was a bit noisy, but most are anyway.

Everything was superb at this little gem of a place. The location is perfect, right by the end of a no-exit street and next to Rio São Francisco, a 2-minute walk from the hotel. Breakfast is excellent, prepared with care and samples of the local cuisine - which is fantastic, too. Rooms are basic and on the small side but absolutely clean and comfortable. The town is a great hub to explore Serra da Canastra in full, and although it's only a city with 2,000 people, it feels well-run and immaculate. The best of my stay at Pousada Canto do Rio was its owners: Lorenzo and Marcia live there, which makes all the difference. Their hospitality is simply unbeatable, and their genuine care for their guests is very noticeable from the moment you get to know them. This place is a hidden gem in the region, and you won't regret giving it a try.

Preparing an amazing breakfast for us in the morning to start our adventure, and returning back to authentic Brazilian dinner. Each night was something special! Eduardo was more like a friend than a host. Plenty of exotic birds flying around, with a river inside the property.
