The ancient architecture is by far the most impressive thing due to the exquisite craftsmanship, demonstrated in the reason why so many people visit the places today, as modern buildings could not hold a candle to the buildings and work carried out in centuries past

The city has so many points of interest that we needed more days than allocated for this trip. We stay in a small hotel in the Sultan Ahmed neighborhood with an incredible view. All major attractions in the European side of Istambul were within walking distance or easily accessible by tram. Do not forget the Bosphorus boat ride.

Istanbul is an amazing city, full of friendly people and amazing things to see and experience.
If you stay in a hotel in the Fatih or Sultanahmet areas, you can walk around amost everywhere.
Find local places to eat and drink, as the more tourist restaurants can be expensive.
The hustling can take some getting used to ; you can come out of a restaurant and immediately be hustled to go the one next door! On our first visit, a 10 minute walk took 1 hour because everyone wants to take you to their shop.
However, they are just doing their job so a polite refusal works 99% of the time.
Airport - architectually, the airport is beautiful.
However, checking in can take a long time as you have to go through 2 baggage checks (plus a third at the gate itself!)
Also, the shopping is extremely expensive (17Euros for a sandwich?!)
Taxis are a bit of a nightmare ; we prebooked for the inward flight but had to wait for close to 1 hour before they could be bothered to take us to the taxi

It's the capital of three empires and the largest city of one of today's major economies.
The city bustles with life, and this time of the year (July 2024), it was the added advantage of not being too crowded because so many people are on vacation. :)))

We stayed two weeks with my wife and kids, but it is not a city I would recommend to visit with a family. There are not many things to do for the kids, and to be honest, it could even be dangerous (yes it is). There are too many people who don't care about each other, they jostle without even noticing, traffic is terrible with scooters rolling on the pavements.
Food is awful (yes it is). Worst food ever, except if you love kebab. That's the only thing you get to eat. Food is not varied at all, there are no other gastronomies which is quite surprising for such a big and lively capital (only Turkish food). On top of that, it is quite expensive.
People are not welcoming at all. They don't greet you except if you speak Turkish, and usually they don't speak English. They are quite aggressive for you to buy from them and that's the only interactions you will have. There is no cultural exchange with them which is a shame. They really don't care about you.
Everything is quite expensive, you need to bargain for almost everything which is tiring.
On the positive side, there are lots of museums, the city is modern and clean, and there are plenty of places to visit. Public transportation are great but crowded.
I would plan to go back again, but with no kids, and I would venture outside of the capital. There are a lot of things to see in the rest of the country.
Breakfast very diversified, suitable for all demands and cultures.
Hotel is very conveniently located close to almost all attractions of Istanbul: hundred meters walking to Hagia Sofia, Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Saray, Grand Bazaar, even to Taksim Square & Istiklal street (pedestrian shopping area) using the public transport net.
In my opinion its the best location that you can get. Taksim square literally 3-4 mins walk which connects you with all the other parts of Istanbul.
Very very clean hotel with the best personnel. The guys at reception are very helpful especially if you are looking for ideas and cheaper rates for taxi and the cleaner is the most positive guy that you will meet.
Very nice breakfast, very nice hotel, all at superlative. It is indeed a true 5 stars hotel, very modern, clean and you can have a nice experience.
If you have an executive room you get access to the executive lounge where you can serve dinner for free.
It is the best location in Istanbul.
One of the best hotel in istanbul , great value against the money , very friendly staff especially the manager Mr.Mert very helpful and for sure great view to Taksim square . i was in this hotel more than 10 times and sure i will repeated again
