The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendor and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.
Take a stroll through the historic center or the busy Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.
If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.
Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for a vacation in Istanbul.
The city is worth a visit. A vibrant and lively metropolis with 15 million inhabitants. Furthermore it is a junction and crossroad between Europe and the Asia. Prepared for streets and markets full of people. However do not concentrate only on the old part and Taksim area but also pay a visit to the Asian parts of Istanbul. A boat tour on the Bosporus should not be missed as it is a very pleasant way to get a overlook of the city. There a several tram lines like T1 which goes right through the old center of Istanbul passing by a lot of monuments . Beside there are two vintage tram routes one at Taksim and on in Asian surburb of Kadiköy which worth a visit. But there are also some set backs, one is the very high entrance prices for most mouments. Tokapi Palace is 50 Euro + an additional 16 Euro if you want to see the Harem buldings. Sophia Haiga is 25 Euro + additional 25 Euro if you want to see the museum nearby. Go early as you can expect long queues and waiting times . To by tickets online is not every time recommended as it can be more expensive and not every time you can jump the queue. The public transportation improved very much. However between the new airport and your hotel you should think about a an airport taxi if you have a lot of luggage. There is a new metro line but travel time is long and if you have to change to another metro line or tram it can be inconvenient because of long ways. There is a cheap reloadable card for public transportation Istanbul City Card valid for metro, bus, tram and most ferries. Can be purchased at the vending machines in Metro and tram stops. Not be confuesd with the Istanbul Tourist Card

I loved the city, an amazing place to visit.
I loved the city, an amazing place to visit. BUT: had a horrible experience with the local taxi and in general felt that tourists are being scammed everywhere. I am a traveller and lived in different countries, being very open to different cultures, manners and habits, but this was too much even for me. I have actually no desire to return back for this reason.

Very busy, crowdy city, horrible traffic with lots of interested monuments to visit. The city gets very expensive and tourists get ripped off. You get exhausted by having to bargain everything you need to buy.

Lots a historic sights
Lots a historic sights
Lots of food places, quite expensive in some places
Visible imperial superiority in public despite tourism being a foundation for the country
Transport unless on metro/tram adds up to be extremely expensive especially at night
Some taxi drivers do not drop to exact destinations
The sights
Boat trips are excellent
Markets are very good and fun
Masjids should be a free and not used for revenue and you should be allowed to pray at all times in there

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Istanbul
We were passing through Istanbul, so we needed a hotel that was close to Taksim Square, Istiklal Street and also the Havaist point to the airport. Everything came together perfectly here. The location is very convenient.
The staff is polite and responsive, always in touch, also very understanding, they approached the fact that we arrived early. Despite the fact that check-in was later, they checked us in earlier, which was very convenient. Inside the small room there is enough space, air conditioning, kitchen and cooking utensils.
The hotel and staff were great; very good location and walking distance to Taksim Square, taksim metro, istiklal Street and all the restaurants, banks and anything one may need.
The hotel itself is a very cute and modern place, newly renovated with clean fittings and interiors. Burak at the reception was always there to help with taxi bookings, other info about the city and always prompt on WhatsApp. Must stay in Istanbul. We are coming here again soon!
The personnel was very helpful, they try their best to help, they even gave us an istanbulkart for our stay. The hotel is newly renovated and two minutes away from taksim square and it's generally busy and you don't feel unsafe generally.
i had very long transit time, so i booked this hotel for one night, good location near airport, surrounded by many good restaurants
if i come to asian side of istanbul, definitely i will come back again.
