I had a great time. The house is beautiful and well located to visit Kakunodate. The hostess is very kind. The meals, made with local ingrédients, were delicious. It was fun to bake bread in the fireplace for breakfast.

Company information

Founded in June 2023, our company started as a sole proprietorship by our representative, Kochihira, in 2022 before becoming incorporated. Named Yumeijin Co., Ltd., our slogan is "Filling the world with unseen play." In addition to operating two inns, we offer a variety of activities and tours that highlight the natural, cultural, and historical aspects of the area. Our nature activities change with the seasons: during the green season, we offer cycling and hiking, while in the winter season, we provide experiences such as snowshoe hiking and snow biking. For historical and cultural experiences, we focus on the samurai town of Kakunodate, where activities such as sake brewery tours, traditional crafts, and bushido experiences are popular. We also conduct tours in Aomori and Iwate prefectures, so feel free to consult us if you want to explore the broader Tohoku region. Although our company is new, we have extensive knowledge about tourism in Akita. Our representative has spent five years in the Akita tourism industry since graduating and knows the best recommendations for young people and families. If you're visiting Akita, please don't hesitate to ask for our suggestions. We will promptly provide the best sightseeing options tailored to your group, interests, duration of stay, and budget. We look forward to welcoming you!

Property information

Our establishment is a thatched-roof minka-style house over 140 years old. The original impressive beams and fusuma (sliding doors) remain intact, but parts of the facility have been remodeled for your comfort. 【Important Notice!】 The check-in location is different from the accommodation. Check-in takes place at the coworking space ORENCHI, located about a 1-minute walk from JR Kakunodate Station. Please make sure to check in here. After checking in, a staff member will accompany you to the accommodation, give you a tour of the facility, and hand over the keys. 【Attention!】 As this is an old house, it is less insulated compared to modern hotels and inns. The rooms, hallways, and living spaces can be cold in the mornings and evenings. Although the guest rooms are equipped with air conditioning, there is no air conditioning in the dining/living space, bathroom, or restrooms. However, even in midsummer, the temperatures drop in the evening in Akita, making it quite comfortable. Additionally, due to the age of the house, and being in a natural area, insects may occasionally enter the house. We make every effort to prevent this, but we ask for your understanding. At our inn, we offer various activities that allow you to experience the countryside's seasons with all five senses, such as local cuisine experiences in the irori (traditional sunken hearth) room and outdoor activities in the nature. If you are interested, please select a plan that includes these experiences. For breakfast, we use locally sourced vegetables. Please enjoy this unique culinary experience. You can choose between a Western or Japanese-style breakfast. For the Western option, you can bake bread over the irori, accompanied by salad, soup, smoothie, yogurt, and oven dishes. For the Japanese option, enjoy kiritanpo (grilled rice sticks) and grilled rice balls prepared over the irori, along with small side dishes, miso soup, and fish dishes. We look forward to welcoming you!

Neighbourhood information

Kakunodate, known as the "Little Kyoto of Michinoku," is a historic town with samurai residences dating back to the Edo period. Our accommodation is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from these samurai residences. The cherry blossoms in spring are designated as a National Scenic Beauty, attracting many tourists each year. Additionally, the city boasts several attractions, including Lake Tazawa, the deepest lake in Japan; the renowned hidden hot springs of Nyuto Onsen and Tamagawa Onsen; the stunning Dakigaeri Gorge with its beautiful autumn leaves and fresh greenery; and the Akita Nairiku Line, a local train that spans 90 km from north to south. There is no shortage of attractions to explore and enjoy. We hope you have a wonderful time visiting!
