  • are there places close by to eat? or do you offer evening meals?

    Thank you for asking. We do not offer dinner here (only breakfast), but there are wonderful restaurants in Stykkishólmur, located 37 km / 20 mi to the west of our guesthouse. There is also a shared kitchen for our guests to use in the Tractor Shed.

  • We booked last Sept. then cancelled due to COVID. Wanted to rebook this September but the whole month is unavailable? Too early or are you sold out?

    Thank you for wanting to reschedule your stay! We haven't yet opened our Booking.com calendar for September but will do so by the end of April. Usually we announce this on social media if you want a heads up. :) Hope to see you in September!

  • Do you have an on-site restaurant for dinner?

    There is no restaurant at Drangar, but guests have access to a shared kitchen or in-room kitchenette depending on the room type. It is a 45 minute drive to the nearest restaurant in beautiful Stykkishólmur.

  • my mom is travelling with us - is ther any way to have one room with the 3 of us?

    We have rollaway beds which are a good solution for a short stay with three adults and these can be added to a room at an additional cost. We also have comfortable triple rooms as well in another building if you get in touch with us.

The new Drangar Country Guesthouse is on a renovated farm, well-situated on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, bordering Dalir, a mere two-hour drive from Reykjavik. We are midway between the beautiful towns of Stykkisholmur and Budardalur, which offer quality restaurants, services and recreational opportunities. The superb accommodation includes a well-equipped common living space with cooking facilities. Currently there are four unique double rooms with private bathrooms. Two of the rooms have kitchenettes. It is also possible for families to rent the whole house and use the sleeping sofa in the common area. In January 2021, Studio Granda architects won the Icelandic Design Award 2020 for their design of Drangar. Drangar also was nominated for the 2022 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
Drangar Country Guesthouse stands near the sea, with a wonderful view of the countless islands of Breidafjordur bay. Drangar Country Guesthouse offers a lovely place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Icelandic countryside.
