Good hotel right next to the lake. The room has a good size with a kettle and the hot pool (spa) was nice after a long day out (not that you have to pay extra). The restaurant at the hotel was excellent.

Highly recommended for the fans of the movie “the shining”!!
This student dormitory magically transforms during the summer in an expensive hotel which resembles the hotel from Stanley Cubrik’s movie “the shining”. In every step inside the building you get the feeling that Jack Nicholson is watching you and is ready to hunt you yielding an axe in his hand and take your head!!
The hotel is close enough to some places of interest which is good.
The personnel is very polite and really helpful.

Great accommodation. Easy access to the house. Everything was clean. Fully equipped kitchen. Big, comfortable space for our group of 3. We did the ring road and it was by far the best apartment we stayed in.

We really liked all the amenities they had for us, from hot tub to laundry machine/dryer. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and warm up our food and the beds were super comfy. We also loved seeing the animals on the farm, like the ducks and sheep wandering around. Helga was also very accommodating when we accidentally locked our key in the house as we were able to get a spare key from her next door.
There is so much to do here, using Egilsstadir as a base.
There is so much to do here, using Egilsstadir as a base. An absolute MUST is a soak in the VÖK Baths, a mere 2km out of town.
Day trips out to the Puffin colony at Bakkafjördur, or the very cute harbour town of Seydisfjordur, for example. A trip around to Hallormsstadur as well as further day trips north are next on our list.
We had great wood-fired pizza at Askur Pizzeria and brilliant coffees at Tehusia Hostel, which had a great buzz-y vibe.

An unusual place to be sure.
An unusual place to be sure. Not too "in yer face" , nor up it's own pipe. Just about right. Superb geolocation. Car necessary to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer. Highly recommend to independent traveller.

This was a great stopping point after driving the eastern Fjords on a Sunday. They had a couple places that were open where we could eat, get gas and groceries. This town was a nice place to stay after driving through many of the lovely villages along the coast and before heading to Husavik. You're also close to Hengifoss and not far from Studlagil Canyon, though we only drove halfway down the road before we gt nervous with the icy road right on the side of a cliff.

We loved the tourist info center there along the lake with the Gunnar Gunnerson museum and restaurant. We had a great buffet meal there. We enjoyed the tourist rest area because the lady there spent time with us as we looked around at the exhibits. It was an unexpected surprise.

Good hotel overall.
Good hotel overall.
Locally, we went to Vik Baths, very good experience.
On our 10 day driving the Ring Road, we had already visited the Blue Lagoon. Vik Baths was an alternative to the Blue Lagoon, well worth visiting.

We reached this hotel in the evening, after hours on road it was our safe and comfortable place. Thanks a lot to reception guy (we forgot to ask the name), he was really nice and gave us some advises about visiting places around, also shout out to Austėja, thanks for recomendations, we saved a lot of time during next day trip to Reykavik. One more thing to mention, this hotel will stay in my memory for the all life, as the first Nothern light was captured here!
Breakfast was perfect!
Best regards from griup of lithuanians! 💚
The staff is very nice, take time to explain things to me and very helpful. The room is clean, but would be better if I could adjust the heater. Quite place, not far from town and convenient for me to visit places around Egilsstadir.
Quiet, stylish and calm. The pleasant surprise was hot bath with a lake view and warm bathrobes.
Breakfast was also good with a fresh home-made omelette (not very common in other hotels). Staff was very nice and helpful.
The hotel is well located. Nice clean room and bathroom. Good breakfast spread. The staff was very helpful as we had to extend our stay because of snowstorm. Ample free parking. Superstore next door
Finnstadir is located near Egilsstadir with outstanding views to the valley and the airport (if you have visibility). Ideal planespotting location. The house is cozy a well-equipped.
