Welcome to Mentawai Family Surf Camp, where you can enjoy your surf holiday while we take care of the rest. The camp at the beachfront of Nyang Nyang Island with traditional wooden bungalows is managed by a warmhearted local family. Be prepared to be treated like a family member and taken care of for an unforgettable stay. You will have a world class surfing experience paired with hospitality at its finest on a heavenly island. It seems that many of our guests like the way we treat them since they return to us regularly for a second stay. We are very proud of that! We have three Bungalows that serve either as shared rooms or can be booked as private rooms. All of our room rates include three delicious meals a day and unlimited coffee, tea and water. Western style toilets and showers are shared. Mosquito nets, fans, towels and sockets are provided. The surf spot E-Bay breaks directly in front of the campus, you can basically watch the waves rolling in from your balcony. Surf spots Beng Bengs and Pitstop are just a short walk to each side away. For chasing all the other surf breaks in the area we provide a wooden speedboat including a local surf guide and skipper for an extra charge. Based on our location we cover north mentawai and playground area. Our family knows the weather, the winds, the waves and the islands better than anybody else, since we were living here for generations as fishermen, basically growing up in the waters. So be prepared for an experience the Mentawai way!

You want to know where the camp is? Situated right in front of the beach of Nyang Nyang Island (also known as Masukot Island) in northern Mentawai. From the white sanded beach in front our bungalows you can paddle out to the surfspot E-Bay, enjoy the crystal-clear saltwater or snorkel with tropical fish. Nyang Nyang island has 5 surfspots in total. Beng Bengs and Pitstop are just a short walk to each side away, while Bank Vaults and Nipussi are a little longer walk across the island or a short boat trip away. Surrounded by Coconut palm trees and nature, there are no cars or motorbikes around. Transportation only by foot or boat. We are happy to greet you as our guests and new family members. So Bang* or Kak*, feel free to come visit us. (*Bang means brother in local language, Kak means sister). To get to the island you have to take a fast ferry from Padang City which departs Tuesdays, Thurdays and Saturdays at 7 AM to Siberut.
