Smallthorns Barn has a very private and welcoming feel - underfloor heating makes it cosy in the winter months too. It is ideal for less mobile visitors as it is all on one floor and very level with gravelled parking for 2 cars directly outside the front door. There is a table and chairs in the garden for outdoor enjoyment; the ideal place for a glass of wine in the evenings. For visitors with children there is a high chair and travel cot (no bedding included for this) and the garden is a perfect place for them to play as it is secure and visible from the living area. In the Barn is a whole range of ideas for days out and places to visit plus some local information, walking/cycling maps and useful numbers (just in case!) We provide eggs from our own free range hens to all our visitors to enjoy too. The cottage is halfway between Northampton and Leicester, easily accessible from the A14 (j1 or j2), M6 and M1. We are very close to the centre of the country and it is convenient for many places as well as several major airports.

I'm Rachel, a farmer in beautiful Northamptonshire running a family farm with my husband. We have cattle, sheep and some cropping and the cottage is on the farm with lovely views across our biggest field. Because we work close to home one of us is always available if our guests need anything, and we enjoy meeting people from all over the world. We are best contacted by mobile phone as we can be away across the fields or outside with the animals.

The cottage backs onto a country lane, meaning good road access, but the garden and most windows face out to the fields with a big uninterrupted view. There are fields all around and the nearest neighbours are several hundred yards away. We live at the other end of the farm so there is complete privacy and no disturbances. Buzzards, kites and hares are frequently seen outside. There are some lovely walks round the village and in the local area. It is a 10 minute walk into the centre of the village to the pub, or a 5 minute drive to Naseby where there is a useful general shop. Market Harborough has a wide range of shops including 6 supermarkets and a big farm shop and is 10 minutes drive. There is no useful public transport however, so a car is a necessity. Being so centrally located, there are a huge number of places to visit in and around the area. Kelmarsh Hall, Foxton Locks, the Space Centre, Althorp House, National Gliding Centre, Rockingham Castle.....the list is endless. It is only an hour by car to the beautiful historic towns of Warwick and Stratford upon Avon.
