Staff were very helpful and polite. Parking was really good.
The Embankment Hotel is in a beautiful location beside the River Ouse. Only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, this riverside setting overlooks quiet gardens and a Victorian bridge.

Location is next to the river and lovely. Rooms are above the restaurant. There is no lift, so be aware if you have heavy bags. Staff were lovely and helpful. Room was huge and beautiful, well decorated and well appointed. Had a coffee machine, and tea/coffee/hot chocolate, plus plenty of water. Stunning bathroom. Didn't hear the bar downstairs. Huge bath and huge bed.
With a location overlooking the Great Ouse River in Bedford’s town centre. Bedford Rail Station is only 1 mile from the hotel, providing 40-minute links to central London.

Lovely home, very comfortable, clean and good location
We used to live just outside Bedford. Its a small town centre with pleasant riverside walks. Entertainment is limited and shopping is declining because Milton Keynes (MK) is so close. However its quiet and safe and not over commercialised like MK. Quite a good stopping over sort of place but not very stimulating

It was a revisit to friends after being at college there 50 years ago. The Embankment hasn’t changed much but the roads and houses look more upmarket in that area. Went to the athletic stadium for a party and that is a real asset for the town. Didn’t have time to visit the town centre but some nice smaller restaurants and shops on side roads.
Bedford is pretty central to visit the local area but the whole road system takes some negotiating.

Bedford is a compact town. It is well sign-posted.
Bedford is a compact town. It is well sign-posted. The river area is very pleasant with plenty of walks and cycle routes. There are activities for children here.
There is a very good food market here twice a week. The shops are not very interesting, but it has good arcades.
The Cultural Quarter is good. The Higgins Gallery is superb and free. The Bunyan Museum is small, but welcoming and informative. It is also free. I didn't have time to go anywhere else.

There is a great museum with some surprising artworks for a small (albeit county)town.
Also a museum dedicated to John Bunyan which draws visitors from all over the world-it has a Moot Hall just outside the town at Elstow which is beautiful with oak beams & lots of artefacts (& a nearby abbey)
The riverside makes a beautiful walk & there are shops & interesting cafes in the town centre. In the market square there is a church & there was a BBC base there during WW2.There are connections to the band leader Glenn Miller who was lost in a plane over the channel when he was on his way to entertain the troops in France.Near the town centre there is a castle mound which is the only remaining part of Bedford Castle-the gardens can be explored & the history discovered.

We need to plan a return visit - the was so much to do but other commitments meant that we only caught glimpses of what the town had to offer. We did enjoy dining at the Nazar Lounge, an original establishment where we were feted with tasty food from friendly, attentive staff. We have to go back - sooner rather than later.

Bedford is a pleasant town with deep history, but not a lot to show for it. The castle is in ruins. I was serendipitously surprised to find the John Bunyan Museum across the street from my hotel. The writer of Pilgrim's Progress, he is perhaps Bedford's most famous citizen, more even than the medieval Lords and Ladies who resided in the castle. The river walk is beautiful. I watching people sculling on the river. Many people commute from Bedford to London for work.

All the facilities, I have been before and enjoyed my stay there, so this time!
The staff pleasant, attentive and vey helpful as I had a bit of pb with my mobile phone and helped with an another lead from the Hotel.
I lived in Bedford many years ago so it was really great to be in familiar ground again!
I have known the Hotel many many years ago in fact my own mother and a friend stayed there but it wasn't the confort standard it has now with the change of ownership!
This is, without doubt, the best hotel in Bedford but the competition is not brilliant. It’s best feature is its Manager who runs around fixing every problem that his staff either create or don’t care about…a true hero and the saviour of the hotel which has many underlying issues which would otherwise have got it a score of 2
convenient to Bedford and Woburn.
it’s a good all-round breakfast, plenty of choice, well stocked.
late bar in the hotel and just next to an M&S
pleasant welcoming host
Super nice room, perfectly clean and really comfortable. The hotel is in a very central location in Bedford, close to both Couch station and train station.
