Breakfast menu was limited but what was served was good. Would of been nice to have the weather to use the balcony but we can't complain about that in October. Very peaceful and quiet outlook.

Stay with us... Birdsong Cottage - ideally located for exploring the Northumberland Coast, Alnwick... a luxury boutique en-suite B&B, with the added bonus of a balcony for our guests who are staying in the Haven room and patio for Swallows Rest room. Easy access to the A1, and the surrounding area, near to many wedding venues, two fantastically furnished bedrooms for guests, sumptuous ensuite shower rooms and of course renowned Northumbrian hospitality that includes a fine breakfast. Free Wi-Fi is available. Birdsong Cottage offers an intimacy and luxury rarely encountered in bed and breakfast accommodation. Bedroom 1 , Swallows Rest is a boutique style room that combines luxury and comfort with a spacious ensuite shower room and private west facing patio. Bedroom 2, Haven is a sumptuous boutique room with en-suite wet room, amazing sea view and a large balcony for relaxing / stargazing. Birdsong Cottage is a perfect location for guests attending weddings and events at venues such as Ellingham Hall, Doxford Hall, Doxford Barns and Charlton Hall.
As a county, Northumberland has more strong houses and castles than any other in England. But worry not, the county’s warring is long past! With such a variety of things to see, it’s no wonder Northumberland is dubbed “the secret kingdom”. This affectionate title becomes apparent when simply taking in the view from Birdsong Cottage where one can see the magnificent Dunstanburgh Castle. A short drive to the south leads into Alnwick, Northumberland’s traditional county town and the seat of The Duke of Northumberland. With it’s imposing castle and the magnificent Alnwick Gardens along with a myriad of traditional shops, Alnwick (only 10 minutes drive from Birdsong) is well worth a visit. Across to the east and the dramatic vistas offered by the North Sea provide a unique and awe-inspiring site. The aforementioned Bamburgh Castle, once the seat of ecclesiastical power in Britain provides a good day out. Within a 15 miles radius of Bamburgh lie both Lindisfarne, accessible only by a causeway and also the world famous Farne Islands, home to a colony of more than 80,000 puffins during the summer months. We can’t forget the Cheviot Hills that sit to the west of Birdsong cottage
