Phenomenal and one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at! The owners are two brothers originally from Brazil and super nice! They're fluent in English, Portuguese, and probably other languages too. The hostel is as clean as it gets. They have all the nice simple touches like free good quality coffee, towels included, nice sheets, comfortable beds, private curtains for a privacy in single rooms, and many dehumidifies which is a must being literally on the beach. The hostel is cleaned well and often. The best part for me is it attracts quality guest's who are polite and not very noisy at night. The parking is plentiful and safe. The views for sunset are stunning. The beach vibe decorations are a nice touch. Would definitely stay again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND having a car if you stay here! It is quite remote compared to other cities on the island.

The Guest House is really well located in the centre of the town and its only a short walk to the beach. The amenities in place, especially the kitchen are excellent and have everything you need.

It is a "remote access" style guest house as opposed to a "host on site" guest house, and the hosts (and surf instructor) are easy to contact online, friendly and accomodate their guests well!

Located in Funchal and with Marina do Funchal reachable within 2 km, FX Pena provides a tour desk, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a terrace. Everything was fine. Our hosts were super kind. They always helped us. The room was good, everything was clean. Highly recommended.

Located within a traditional and historical building in Funchal old town, Santa Maria Hostel is a boutique hostel featuring a vintage-style décor. The hostel is in a beautiful old building that is extremely well-maintained in the heart of the old town. Rooms are spacious with high ceilings. Fabulous kitchen. Both receptionists we met are very efficient, friendly and helpful and we’d like to give them our thanks for making our stay a pleasant experience. In order to have twin beds we chose to forego a private bathroom, but the communal facilities were so great it was not an inconvenience. Plenty powerful hot showers. The location is perfect with many attractions within walking distance.

Amazing location with direct view of the sea from the balcony. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful with any of our requests. The actual room was much nicer than the pictures in the listing.
